Kanye West vs Entertainment Weekly
As I’m putting together part 2 of my recent interview with Crooked I my man Waxx hits me with a link to Kanye’s blog in which he responds to the above Entertainment Weekly review of his GITD Tour. Reading over the review it seems really hate driven. Like the writer has a personal vendetta against Ye. Ye tee’s the eff off though haha. He is wild! There’s a fine line between standing up for yourself and overstepping your response. Kanye is Kanye we all know that. I fully appreciate the passion he has and I respect when artists say what they want. But this might be a bit too much…

@ maza - second that…also, i didn’t really find the article all that insulting…kanye IS self-obsessed and weird…but the writer basically said it was a great performance…if he doesn’t want people calling him “nuts” he should probably stop acting that way…and i’m sorry but the concept is a little hokey
I think Kanye’s issue is the writer pretty much trashes him as a person but give the concert a B+. The fact the this writer doesn’t like Ye as a person shouldn’t have anything to do with whether the show was good or not and isn’t B+ from some that hates you and was probably hoping the concert would suck really an A+. Reviews in general are pretty much worthless especially reviews for a concert that is sold out in every city there going to.

I don’t see anything wrong with this review. It’s a pretty logical look at Kanye West’s character. Who would dispute that Ye is pretentiously nutty, egotistical, supremely confident, affable, and magnetic persona?
Look at it this way, its a review from a dude that probably doesn’t even like rap.
A question to ya’ll who hate on critics (the talented ones, anyway): When artists charge between $50 and $150 per ticket, shouldn’t somebody be able to write about what the audience got for the money?
The artists and their groupies are always gonna say the performance is the shit. But shouldn’t someone be there to call em out when it’s not?
Kanye sounds like he wants an A just for showing up. (I’ve been to three Kanye shows and they were some of the best I’ve been to.)
