I've got a little window of time before I get on the road so let's see what I can do. As promised, Term drops his latest mixtape. A tribute to the late great J Dilla! Featuring Joell Ortiz, Sheek, Bun B, Freeway, Saigon, Skyzoo, Big Pooh, Joe Scudda, Chaundon and more.

Lada if you have winrar just double click the zip then rename the folder
Termanology "If Heaven Was A Mile Away (A Tribute To J Dilla)
    to
Termanology If Heaven Was A Mile Away A Tribute To J Dilla

Some how that " got in the folder title and causing the file not to extract unless renamed.

Now off to listening to this dope mixtape.

    R.I.P. Dilla

  • Ghost

    it needs a password?

  • Why?Bee

A horrible rapper makes a dedication mixtape to a wonderful producer who didn't even produce ONE thing for Termanlogy, let alone knew his name. Opportunist bullshit.

  • http://www.nickdyerdesigns.com Nick

Why?Bee don't start the new year off with hating. Download it and see for yourself how dope this mixtape is.. I'm 6 songs into it (17 total) and all have been bangers.

  • jay

does he have any detroit artist on here?

  • http://www.nickdyerdesigns.com Nick

    Nah all new york mainly.

  • Why?Bee

Nick I doubt besides the collabo that Statik got him with Saigon and Bun this is that great. Even still it doesn't take away the fact the motives behind this are questionable.

If Guilty Simpson or Elzhi made a tribute to Dilla it would be understandable. In 2009 maybe a bit questionable, but still understandable.

For a rapper like Termanology who really didn't become an internet name until 2007, a rapper who by the way has no affiliation to J Dilla, never worked with him and wasn't even a on Dilla's radar when he was alive is complete bullshit. To drop as a "New Years" mix/tribute and for it to be about Dilla screams of opportunist bullshit.

I know you can't be that naive.

is this just Term spitting over Dilla beats?

  • http://www.nickdyerdesigns.com Nick

Why?Bee yeah you got a point.. but this is Termanology going in on some of J Dilla beats paying tribute to him and his producing abilities. Term also states on a track about why he named the album this and stated if J Dilla was alive still he would go in the studio and do a whole album with him. I don't think he has any motive behind it than putting out good music with good beats produced by a great producer, J Dilla.

YES! 2009 startin off so official!!! I'm one of the BIGGEST JD fans! That's all I listen to in my car! So this is a huge day for me! Thanks for the epic ish fam!

  • Dj ILL ONE

the dude had good intentions with this mixtape, but it isn`t the best. My thing is with the state of Dilla`s estate,I think people should either do something for Dilla`s lupus charity or to help Ma Dukes with his estate. I`ts funny that people wanna call them selves "Dilla Heads" or just rhyme over his beats without taking this into consideration.

  • Brooklyn Illa

Okay this dude prob just got on to Dilla's music....which is okay but yo....Pay Jay and Mrs Yancey.....his finesse in is rhymes doesnt fit Jay Dee swing..we need Tanya Morgan over Dilla joints...To me i think Von Pea could be the 90's babies Dilla. Term is nice but would be better on all Premo joints....or even 9th Wonder...Dilla as a crazy soul...he makes you want to change your life for the better...so even if i dont really vibe with Term joint...im happy that Dilla also affected his life enough to do a mixtape....but yo Term your champion sound is not over Dilla's landscapes..try Primo or 9th man....and yo to all you hip hoppers.....Von Pea is the truth... man..im not jocking him but yo this Brooklynite has not heard ANYBODY out of Brooklyn who does it like Von Pea...yo dude has rhymes and his beats are FRESH...meaning that he doesnt bite off of Dilla..or Primo..etc...Von Pea has his own iddish....but yo....yall can settle for Term...but i rather rock some Von Pea.....his Mixtape over Madlib beats is stupid retarded...and it plays like and album....creative too!

Whybee I hear what you saying fam... why Dilla? Why Now? Where's the Detroit heads for collabs? The one thing I respect is it being a FREE Download. The worst it can do is promote Dilla and Termanology ina major way.

But tru story, if they did shows from this mixtape and donated proceeds to Ma Dukes, THAT would be philanthropy in the best way.

Cant front tho, Im hyped to hear this...

Its not playing for some reason

Anyone have another link? The one posted asked for a password, and I don't think all the track are on the zip from mediafire...fill me in if anyone knows whats up. Thanks

I think you guys are hating on Term a little too hard. The guy just gave you an album for free. It's not like he's trying to shine off Dilla's name or turn a dollar off of it. Just keeping Dilla's name out there and, in turn, giving us all quality music.

What have you done to keep Dilla's legacy alive?

  • Dj ILL ONE

Well, for one,I`ve been a fan since "The Ummah" days. I was really interested when I found out Dilla was from Detroit. I am from Mich, so there`s a small connection there to begin with. Plus,I have family who suffer and have died from the same affliction Dilla died of. I have been involved in lupus walks where I have repped for my fam and Dilla at the same time. I,for one did not hate on Term for doing this, but I just wondered if him and other artists that used Dilla`s work knew about the Dilla Foundation,or were out to help Ma Dukes. Look up Houseshoes,or Elzhi or Guilty Simpson and ask them what they think of all the Dilla tributes that are surfacing now, instead of a few years ago.

  • Drew

My post was aimed mainly at Why?Bee, but I guess I generalized a little too much.

I've been on to Elzhi for awhile now, he makes great music. I just recently got put on to Guilty this past year with the release of his album. I'm glad that they got to know Dilla and respect their opinion on matters regarding him, but to be completely honest, I don't really care what they think about the Dilla tributes. They're entitled to their opinion but it's not going to change mine. Not drastically, anyway.

A lot of people outside of the midwest never got a chance to hear Dilla and I think that's sort of the goal of these tributes. It doesn't hurt that Term is a pretty good rapper. Maybe he never knew Dilla and maybe he would never have worked with him had Dilla lived, but who's to say? Personally, I'd still much rather hear him over Dilla's genius than a guy who really isn't talented but had a relationship with Dilla and lived in the same area (Guilty Simpson).

Sorry to hear about your family.
    Peace and blessings.

  • http://www.myspace.com/sabradioshow MISTA23

SMH. At the e-battles going on.

Guilty is dope, dudes need to stop equating him to a Dilla weed carrier.

Download the tape, and quit complaining. Y'all frequent these blogs dl al your msuic from them just to hate in the comment section and complain.

  • scrog

Negative commentators showing yourselves up! For godsake even Dilla was a magpie using other artists beat samples, that's what hip hop is all about, twistin' stuff together to make the massage stronger. Peace in the middle east anyone?

  • http://myspace.com/clinteestwood.com Clint Partie

Guilt murders Termanology. Nice tape though. The one w/Saigon & Bun B, etc. is absolutely ridiculous.

  • Philly_Hotness

when i click on the title folder after opening in winrar i can not right click to rename the folder to take the ' out. Any help is appreciated

  • Philly_Hotness

I meant the " in the title of the folder not' (Sorry) Help is still appreciated

  • Dj ILL ONE

Peace Drew, thanks. My point wasn`t to show anyone up.And I also know what dilla did was and is hip hop. I still stand by my oppinion on term and the mix. There was and is no beef about this. This was just my oppinion .And I respect yours as well. I agree about the wack rapper point, but that`s whats been happening lately with these tributes. I mentioned Guilty and the rest of them becasue Dilla and his legacy was so important to them and Detroit hip hop. I think instead of just rhyming over his beats,do something different, like make up a whole different composition and let the world know how he inspired you in that way. But I will give Term credit for finding some very rare Dilla tracks.

  • http://www.2dopeboyz.com Shake

im gonna re-up on mediafire in a zip that will have NO issues. sound good everyone?

  • http://www.2dopeboyz.com Shake

mediafire is acting all kinds of gay. so i reupped on zshare. everything should work fine now.

  • Adam

I like Term but i agree with others...why is he doing a Dilla tribute when he didn't have anything to do with him. Maybe if it was Slum Village or something but I dont really get it

  • bushytop

i finally got around to downloading this jaiwnt and was suprised that i was number 198. apparently everyone that has been peeping this has been commenting on it too.
my point - argue about the motives behind term putting it out, but it mos def keeps dilla's name RINGING OUT! now it ain't exactly as poetic as the roots tribute, but it still pays the man the respect that's due. and if everyone that co-opted dilla had to show they were down with him from the jump, no one could ever use a kick or snare again. word life.
BUT DON"T FORGET TO PAY JAY!!

  • Unxpekted aka DMV Disciple

THIS TAPE IS FUCKING FIRE!!! TERRRMANOLOGY!

Real recognize real homie, Term has the hottest producers in the game backing him and he's humble enough to jump on Dilla's shit so hes blessing and keeping his music moving as well as complimenting him...

  • YALL NIGGAS NEED JESUS

THIS IS MY OPINION, SO COMPLAIN IF YOU WANT...

PERSONALLY, WE NEED MORE MIXTAPES LIKE THIS TO WHERE J DILLA IS BEING PRAISED, CAUSE ON THE REAL... THERE'S STILL A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE WHO STILL DON'T KNOW WHO THIS PRODUCER IS. AND EVIDENTLY, THE ALBUMS AND BEAT TAPES THAT HE HAS WORKED ON ISN'T ENOUGH... CAUSE THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE WHO THINK THAT JAY DEE AND JD (JERMAINE DUPRI) ARE THE SAME PERSON, ESPECIALLY IN THE SOUTH.

NOW I UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE SOME THAT ARE TAKING J DILLA'S NAME IN VAIN AND MAKING MONEY OFF OF HIM, BUT AT THE SAME TIME, IF THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO DESERVE TO PAY HOMAGE TO DILLA ARE PEOPLE THAT KNOW DILLA, THEN THE WORD-OF-MOUTH OF DILLA WOULD NOT GO THAT FAR.

ON THE REAL, NOT EVERY RAPPER WHO WAS CLOSE TO DILLA WAS THAT DOPE WITHOUT DILLA'S PRODUCTION.

GUILTY SIMPSON IS OKAY, BUT "ODE TO THE GHETTO" WASN'T THAT GREAT OF AN ALBUM, ESPECIALLY WHEN DILLA ONLY PRODUCED ONE SONG. WITHOUT DILLA, GUILTY IS NOTHING BUT ANOTHER BEANIE SIGEL TO ME. PHAT KAT NEVER WAS INTERESTING TO ME, BUT THE ONLY REASONS WHY HIS ALBUMS ARE GOOD ARE BECAUSE OF THE BEATS. THE SAME GOES FOR FRANK N DANK, I'M SORRY BUT I CAN'T LISTEN TO THEM WITHOUT A DILLA BEAT... PERIOD. IT'S JUST LIKE HEARING GURU OR GROUP HOME WITHOUT DJ PREMIER ON THE BEATS... IT'S NOT THE SAME AT ALL.

EVEN THOUGH ELZHI IS DOPE, IT'S DEFINITELY EVIDENT THAT SLUM VILLAGE WILL NEVER BE THE SAME WITHOUT DILLA. BUT WHAT'S INTERESTING IS THAT THE MASSES NEVER HEARD OF SLUM VILLAGE UNTIL DILLA LEFT THE GROUP. AND NO DISRESPECT TO Q-TIP, BUT IT'S INTERESTING THAT HE WOULD CALL OUT ALL THOSE WHO SUPPOSEDLY USED DILLA IMPROPERLY, BUT HE WAS USING DILLA HIMSELF BY TAKING CREDITS FOR BEATS THAT DILLA MADE, AND SAYING THAT HE MADE THE BEATS BECAUSE HE ADDED A LITTLE EXTRA PRODUCTION ON IT.

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW POPULAR ARTISTS THAT HAVE WORKED WITH DILLA, THEREFORE, HE NEEDS TO BE HEARD FOR IN ANY AND EVERY WAY POSSIBLE. IN ADDITION, DILLA WAS MORE THAN JUST DETROIT HIP HOP... HE REPRESENTED ALL OF UNDERGROUND HIP HOP. SPEAKING OF DETROIT, WHEN J DILLA WAS JAY DEE (BEFORE EMINEM), I ASKED MAD PEOPLE IN DETROIT IF THEY HAVE HEARD OF JAY DEE. AND GUESS WHAT... MOST PEOPLE THERE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW WHO HE WAS, OR THEY THOUGHT THAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT JERMAINE DUPRI. IT'S JUST LIKE ASKING PEOPLE IN NORTH CAROLINA IF MOST PEOPLE HEARD OF 9TH WONDER, AND 9 TIMES OUT OF 10, YOU WOULD STILL GET A NO.

SO IF ANYTHING, I WISHED THAT THERE WERE MORE J DILLA TRIBUTES LIKE THIS... AS LONG AS IT'S A TRIBUTE AND IT'S FREE TO THE PUBLIC. HE SHOULD BE HEARD ABOUT IN THE SAME WAY AS 2PAC (REMEMBER ALL THOSE MAKAVELI MIXTAPES). THE WAY 2PAC INFLUENCED MAINSTREAM HIP HOP CONCEPTS, J DILLA WAS THE SAME FOR UNDERGROUND HIP HOP.

ONCE AGAIN, THIS IS MY OPINION.
