In today's post at the house of Harris I divulge my opinions on black people films, what with the latest in the long list of failures dropping this weekend.

    @ Rio$

Boyz n da hood was kinda wack, the acting was horrible

Honestly, black film hasn't seen a great number of films in the past decade that could qualify as "good", hip hop inspired or otherwise. You have the true cult classic's of the mid to early 90's, but since 2000, the plots have been put together with nail glue and thumbtacks. The black film genre just can't seem to get funded if the script has any potential to have a positive impact because typically those films don't produce large box office results UNLESS a rapper ia attached. At the end of the day, much like record companies, studios want that fast COON cash and will continue to produce the shit Aquaneesha and Ray Ray gonna pile into the theatre for and talk on their cell phones for 2/3's of the feature.

This is an area of infinite debate. The problem is the business of filmmaking. Bust peeps above have already mentioned that so I won't go there again. Scripts for good black movies do exist, they just don't get made because they're not commercial enough. But I said I wouldn't get into that so I digress. We just have to make our movies independently and hopefully they'll have enough commercial legs to crossover so that they can actually make it into the theaters. The problem is money and distribution but this is changing due to new filmmaking tools and the internet. A democratization of the film industry is in process and it's accelerating. The next decade will be interesting. Stay tuned!
