  • red

I don’t want to take away from this post at all props to Joell Ortiz.

I just want to make sure that Shake/Meka saw the Naledge Mixtape (Twenty Something). It’s got features from Vandalyzm, Freddie Gibbs, Phil Ade, MURS, Shawn Chrystopher, Skyzoo, GLC, Rapper Big Pooh, Marsha Ambrosius & Fly.Union so I figure that’s right up everyone’s alley.

    @ Lol Brian Pumper

  • red

I wish I was a fan of Joell but idk. I’ll give it a try the Talib, Brother Ali, Premier, and Statik Selektah features are promising.

  • LiCKS

aint Mr West dropping that track with Pusha t & big sean 2day..Good friday ???

  • Rezo

Lyrically Joell is DOPE but his voice is very annoying to listen to. He just has a bad rap voice and when you listen to him for a while it starts to get very annoying. He has been ghostwriting for years and I think that is his real calling as far as hip hop goes. He is 30 years old and he will never make a success out of rapping. He doesn’t have the voice, image, or presence to become successful with the masses. He should focus on writing, he can make a good living doing that.

  • Shy

  • sxpck

Don’t understand why people find Joell’s voice annoying..top 5 material to me..He makes it sound so easy. Great EP

  • Ashford

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I agree with Rezo of all people. You just summed up every individual in Slaughterhouse.

@ LICKS Pusha T is on a track with Big Sean???? NO NO NO NO NO NOOOOO!!!

  • Fat Boy

Shit is dope. Joell is one of the best doing it #YOWWWAAA

  • nuff

talkin bout voice is like talkin bout lady gaga’s dick. lol

Joells voice is annoying which is clearly why he isn’t successful cause it def aint his bars, i don’t mind the rest of slaughterhouse tho. they just need better beats

  • blackadon

    only 6 tracks damn

  • IllicitMC

It is just me, or does Joell look like a black version of Turtle from Entourage?

  • sxpck

    Buddens voice, now thats annoying

  • What the hell has hip-hop music become? People judging rappers by their voice. Fuck out of here!

  • chef

    fucking awesome. YAOWA!!!

  • warpath

Stop hating on these dudes. If they suck keep it moving, if its hot give props. People who hate have no place anywhere. Its an EP not an album. That is why it has 6 tracks. Stop being greedy people.

shut the fuck up with the fact that they will never make anything out of rapping, they have all been put in bad positions to suceed, with slaughterhouse, as a group they couldnt be in a better positin. they WILL make a name for themselves once they realease that album under SHADDDDY!

  • blackadon

wat about pusha’s fear of god tape

    ^what he said

Wait so Warpath because we disagree with you and dislike it we shouldn’t comment? You serious nigga? I didn’t know we lived in North Korea?

  • Yolandus

@Epic wtf do you mean? this shit is music, the voice is half the equation bro. i’m listening to something, if it’s annoying why would I continue to listen regardless of what’s being said? lol @ acting like the voice isn’t a big deal. i’m not reading a book nigga, i’m listening/hearing shit.

  • chef

if people really think joell is annoying, i wonder how the fuck people listen to lil wayne? i swear that dude has the most annoying voice in the world.

  • red

A rapper’s voice is in their top 3 assets along with their lyricism and beat selection.
I agree that after awhile Joell Ortiz’ voice is just too much. But seriously, this is a 6 track EP so it’s the right amount of Joell Ortiz for me.
    This was pretty good overall.

  • Samurai_P

Looking forward to this. Joell goes in on Battle Cry!!

  • ddave

I heard Battle Cry, and that shit made my jaw drop. I thought damn dude is tough for that one.

I like this nigga and the EP GOES! however, i agree with the sentiment that his voice grinds on you after a while. 6 track EP is PERFECT tho, hardbody shit.

  • Rezo

Saying a rappers voice doesn’t matter is one of stupidest things you can say about hip hop music. That would be like me saying I am going to buy a car but I don’t care at all if the car drives like shit. A rappers voice is the most important tool in their tool belt followed by lyrics. If you can’t get past the voice the lyrics are irrelevant.

  • Double-A

Battle Cry was crazy, but the title track is on another level! Damn…

  • wu

People who bitch about a free ep being only 6 tracks can suck one. You fucking idiots will complain about anything.

hey wu you’re a fucking moron. i read all the comments and not one person bitched about the length, kill yourself.

  • Chris (Divided Souls Ent)

Thanks for the link. You guys keep doing it big. Keep it up the great work. PEace and GOD BLESS

  • D’troit

@Rezo & DAMNNIGGA annoying voice?…i guess yall never heard of Lil Wayne…..

  • YAOWA!

  • Rezo

Wayne is VERY annoying and Drake’s voice makes me want to stop listening to hip hop. Whenever I hear Drake rap I think of somebody talking while holding their nose, I can’t be the only one who thinks his ‘rap voice’ sounds like that.

  • Rezo

To me the perfect rap voice is probably Nas. He just has that true hip hop sound. There are other artist too that have that sound too but to me Nas is the benchmark.

  • Grade A

  • stompintom

idk how people can listen to waynes voice, shit makes me want to stomp him, tom style.

  • yummy

Rezo your opinion holds no weight as you believe 9/11 was a government conspiracy.

  • ck47

    Best EP ever.

  • Tone Riggz

Joell is a dope emcee. I don’t think he has a particularly great voice, but it’s not annoying at all. And, he knows how to put together a great live show. That performance at Highline last June was amazing.

  • this looks hella tight. jean grae and kweili are 2 of the dopest too. hope “peas” knows how to upload better than shake and meka so i can extract this project

  • nice! shout out to “peas” for uploading correctly

  • You can improve your rapping, but you can’t do nothing with your voice. Everbody has a different vioce. It’s not a fucking big deal. Talking about Nas having the perfect one. Would you then want every rapper to sound the same?

  • Rio$

He is 30 years old and he will never make a success out of rapping. He doesn’t have the voice, image, or presence to become successful with the masses. He should focus on writing, he can make a good living doing that.

have you seen dudes that are in the rap game (wayne, diddy spazzin what he call’s diddy bop, rick ross, gucci mane voice, soulja boy 1 line songs with the hook for 2:30 minutes, someone screamin wacka wacka throughout the whole song, lil b talkin bout being a pretty bitch, jay z doing the same raps he die 10 years ago. By all those joell should be a hit with the masses, but the masses are gay

  • Tyler

Battle Cry is one of the best tracks I’ve heard all year! WOW

  • prk

half the songs joell drops are directed at your closed minded, twitter tweeting, skinny jean wearing, uncreative, fucked generation of drake and cole blowers.

Joell is hands down one of the realest about at the moment. Recycled punchlines and lovin friend rice aside, dude brings heart and creativity to the table.

  • Battle Cry is one of the best hip hop song of all time.

  • Tyson F.

Yo, “Epic” said it right “Fuck out of here” His voice?? Really?? Some people got audacity to criticize a rapper for there voice. Hip hop isn’t about your voice, what you want him to do sweet talk you. FUCK OUTTA HERE!

  • stevep

i feel like joell shouldn’t have to give shit away free man.

    but shit….thanks.

  • Icy fresh

Slaughterhouse are dope! Including joell, so why are you whining? If you dont like his voice then why are you even downloading his EP?

  • hanibalmc

Joell is Probably one of hip hops greatest of all time and lets remember he’s a rapper not a singer, plus all of the Lil Wayne fans comnting should stay silent cuz weezy’s voice aint no walk in the park
