Game’s 25 Favorite Albums

blame it on Shake August 23, 2011

With The R.E.D. Album finally dropping today, Complex caught up with the Compton rapper to get his thoughts on his (personal) Top 25 albums of all time.

You know how I want my list to look? The Chronic got to be by itself with no number, and then the list starts. The Chronic was just an incredible album, man. It was so well put together. It was actually more of a fucking Snoop album. Snoop was on every song on The Chronic and shit. It was like Snoop’s introduction to the world.

Full list after the jump.

00 Dr. Dre – The Chronic

25 Jay Rock – Follow Me Home
24 The Game – Doctor’s Advocate
23 De La Soul – Buhloone Mind State
22 DMX – Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood
21 Jadakiss – Kiss Tha Game Goodbye
20 2Pac – Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.
19 EPMD – Unfinished Business
18 DJ Quik – Way 2 Fonky
17 The Lauryn Hill – The Miseducation Of…

  • ok

    thats 26

  • afoXbehindthewheel

Doesn’t matter, this nigga is irrelevant, BASED GOD!

  • dedxsad

    lmao Follow Me Home

  • bitchninjka

    Verde Terrace dropped

  • he put his own albums on the list! hahahahaahahhah! This is the weakest top 25 albums of all time list of all time! This is why music is hurting now, because the people making it do not even know what real music is anymore!!!

  • 10

why follow me home not section 80? if your gonna put a new project from the west there that you support why not the dude who you just proclaimed as the king of the west?

  • @djnookj

@djnookj whats your top then? cus this list isnt so bad

  • Jdiddy381

Boring top 10. I like when people think outside of the box instead of naming the same albums everyone else does.

  • The only problem I have w/ the list is him putting his own albums on the list… just seems/feels conceited :/

  • dj khaled is a arab

i can bet you he aint heard half of them TRUST ME he just thinks thats a good list and the people will like it. i remember when he said when he wanted to rap he went out and bought all the 5 mic albums and studied them

  • dj khaled is a arab

Boring top 10. I like when people think outside of the box instead of naming the same albums everyone else does.

    thats what im talking bout

  • illicitly ill

Follow Me Home is not really that great, Section.80 is ten times better. Shit Setbacks and Absoul’s projects are too. And lol at him putting himself in his favorite album list twice, although the Documentary is a classic.

  • ThaTruth

Most of the albums in the Top 10 are 5 mics albums the people above me are stupid and dont know hiphop. The game is not being conceited and the Documentary is a classic album and these are the albums he was influenced by so dont get mad if he sharing his opinion. AND STOP DICK RIDING KENDRICK LAMAR U FUCKING FAGGOTS

  • 36Chambers

I know this is HIS list/opinion, BUT NO WU-TANG???!!! How you gonna have Mama Said Knock You Out and Follow Me Home, but no 36 Chambers or Wu-Tang Forever?!!! I know he got Ghost on there, but damn! Just my opinion though. It’s actually a pretty decent list besides not having a Wu joint, and no Mobb Deep Infamous, oh and no Boot Camp at all. Ah well, RED album is pretty sick though. Also been bumpin Apathy – Honkey Kong, that shit is fire. PEACE CONNECTICUT!!!

  • Yo Wife

Where THE FUCK is 2001 ?? Shit, he forgot bout Dre.

  • Tay

What’s wrong with the list? I pretty much agree with it. But DMX first album is better than Flesh of my Flesh. And also, nothing wrong with having your own albums up there if they are classics. O yeah, another gripe is he left Section.80 off but maybe it just slipped his mind. It’s all good.

  • E.Oaktown.fuck your side

    1. Illusions Of Grandeur…BASEDGOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • flowerpower

    Black Ken Nigga!!!!

  • Lil Boss

    Game’s ringtone is Wonton Soup

  • @ThaTruth,
Thank you for the Kendrick Lamar bit. Some of u cats kill me with the fuckin’ idol worship. Y’all state your little opinions like they’re just common knowledge & shit. I, for one, like Jay Rock’s album waaay more than Kendrick’s. Like the beats better & Kendrick’s kind of annoying to me. Go figure…just my opinion.
As for this list, again, it’s just one man’s opinion (although alot of the list is probably just thrown together with whatever he thought would be politically correct). I know cat’s that think Raekwon’s IMMOBILARITY is the greatest album in the Wu-Tang canon and everything Nas has ever done is great EXCEPT for ILLMATIC?! I’m the biggest De La head around but Buhloone Mind State’s probably my least favorite of their albums. I guess what I’m saying is debate your own favorites not what you think the Game or someone else’s favorites SHOULD be.

  • BigMike444

    Cypress Hill? Cmon Man

  • sOuller

I though Ice cube will be kinda higher

  • NYdreams

i wondering…did he not put 50 cent get rich or massacre on his list cause 50 dont fuck witt him or cause he scared to

  • tiffs

    no kanye albums?

  • @BigMike444,
What does Cypress Hill have to do wit this? I didn’t see ’em on the list or in anyone’s comments.
While were at, why don’t we get this favorite hip-hop albums discussion going. Here’s mine, real quick. Order’s irrelevant cuz I’m just thinkin’ off the top of my head but here goes:
    Outkast ATLIENS
    Devin THE DUDE
    Scarface THE FIX
    The Genius LIQUID SWORDS

  • YOYO

its “his” 25 favorite , PEOPLE are fucking retarted

  • aprilLOVE

he put his album befire jay-z reasonable doubt im not the biggest jay-z fan but that was the greatest album ever and yall niggas dick ride kendrick laamar tooooooooooooooo much not everybody likes kendrick laamar and section 80 is not no top 25 classic yall niggas is out of yall mind yall about to make kendrick laamar end up like j.cole putn these niggas on these high ass pedistols..section top 25 year right all these album game named are classic and he still even get to the wu-tang clans, beanie sigel-the truth ,freeway- philadelphia freeway,50cent get rich or die trying,jay-z blurprint etc hop off kendrick dick for once and jay rock shouldnt be on here either

  • Teton

Frops for including DJ Quik, but Safe + Sound and Quik is the Name >>>>>> Way 2 Fonky. Hard to pick a favorite between Outkast’s first 3 albums too.

@ Clint Partie – I always wanted someone to redo the production on Immobiliarity. The production is wack on that shit…rhymes are on point though.

Section 80 isn’t an official album. It’s a “street album.” There aren’t any mixtapes/street albums on the list. Say what you will, but Follow Me Home isn’t close to Section.80. Just cuz people think Kendrick is great doesn’t mean they drank the koolaid. I been down w/ KL since his days as K.Dot. As fans of hip hop, how you gonna deny dudes talent?

Hell Hath No Fury is a must in a top 25 list.

  • Surprise, it’s a generic “Classics” list – I think we are all aware his favorite rappers & albums as he can’t spit 4 bars without mentioning one or the other.

  • Cboi21

aye dumb fucks! it said his favorite albums not your!!!!!

  • Deucez

I know it’s his favs…but having your own albums in your 25? The rest of the list was cool, but that was just off to me.

  • redhaze

one little thing i do not understand is whats wrong in liking the music that you make?? i mean wouldn you be proud if you made the documentary? and yeah its his list stop hating..
    mama knows all day!!
