MarQ Spekt & Kno (of CunninLynguists) – MacheteVision (Artwork x Tracklist)

blame it on Shake September 30, 2011

Artwork by Flux.

Running into MarQ at SXSW last year in Austin, I remember him telling me he had a project with my man Kno on the horizon. I wasn’t fully aware of dude to be honest, and took it with a grain of salt and kept it pushin’. Fast forward to my recent adventures in Europe with CunninLynguists and I’m now a firm believer haha. These dude’s have some heatrocks ready for y’all. October 25th is the date.

From the rubble of a post-apocalyptic Hip-Hop landscape littered with bloodied man purses & tattered skinny jeans, two men emerge as the law in a lawless land. Armed only with battled-worn machetes and gritty instrumentals, MarQ Spekt & Kno of CunninLynguists will descend upon The Temple of
Auto-Tune on October 25th to lead one final push in eliminating the remaining scourge and returning high-minded grime to its rightful place in the Pantheon of Rap. Flanked by like-minded mercenaries such as Action Bronson, Deacon The Villain, Meyhem Lauren and more, these guardians of grime will prove once and for all that nobody is safe — especially if they borrow their girlfriend’s pants.

Oh god I wasn’t expecting this at all! Almost 3rd Kno production album in a year! This came out of nowhere…

  • Maga D

@Shake: I saw you put “of Cunninlynguists” for the Deacon feature the other day as well, but I don’t think it’s necessary. If people don’t even know who Kno, Deacon, or Natti are, then how is naming the group their apart of gonna help? It might, but since they are “underground” it probably won’t make a difference either way.

  • ^^ it’s all about branding.
maybe someone will check this and like the production, so they will search cunninlynguists, etc.

  • who cares

Never heard of MarQ Spekt (will look some shit up now) But I love me some Kno production

  • chronwell

“From the rubble of a post-apocalyptic Hip-Hop landscape littered with bloodied man purses & tattered skinny jeans, two men emerge as the law in a lawless land.”

Fool stop being prissy. That’s why no one listens to your underground shit. You ain’t coming to save shit. I already listen to good artistes who do their thing without “coming to save rap”. They just get on the mic and rock it out spitting real truth. Your branding of we are here to make rap to save rap is just boring.

Last underground artiste I went to went to see bored me immediately- ill bill- in the first five minutes because rather than rap, he decided to launch into a tirade against lady gaga and skinny jeans. You don’t even pay the same taxes, why you so mad. If that is the biggest issue of concern in your life, then I am off to listen to Fela. Great backing band and Fela delves right into the truth. Real talk.

PS: 90 percent of “real rap” instrumental is fucking boring. Same ol one two beat. Step the shit up. For people complaining about the state of music, you guys have not progressed much in the last few years. That’s right, I forgot, you are trying to bring rap back.

^ This dude getting ass-hurt over a tongue-in-cheek press release. Your post was uncomfortably high in estrogen, Sparkles. Stop it.

  • LVC1954

    @Kno – sure

  • Kno

I’m glad you see the error of your ways.

  • ^^^Lol. Looking forward to this record. Kno could give Spekt a different but still appropriate landscape to rock over. Lotta musical talent being brought to this project…I’m a fan of that.

  • Clown baby

Lol @ LVC1954. What a loser. I think he got offended by the girlfriend’s pants line.

  • Kno

The press release is just jokes, but I fully expect any man that wears jeggings to also be sensitive. No big deal, I get it.
