DMX On Drake’s Involvement w/ Aaliyah Album (Video)

blame it on Shake September 13, 2012

During his visit to MTV’s RapFix Live yesterday, X shares his thoughts on Drake.

He has talent, but it’s kinda redundant, it’s kinda the same all the time to me personally. It’s an annoying sound.

And his involvement with Aaliyah’s upcoming posthumous album.

I’m kinda feelin’ some kinda a way about the fact that you been commissioned, that you been blessed, you’ve been given the opportunity to do the Aaliyah album yet you don’t include anybody that she worked with personally. I’ma tell you why I’m mad, son. How do you disregard what this woman did? What this beautiful angel did and say, ‘Oh OK, I’m gonna take it for myself because I’m hot right now and I’m feelin’ myself,’. How do you just go there with it? Your balls ain’t that big, son.

  • seneghoul

how come x the only one saying this. hip hop way too soft that you cant even call drake out. let drake be drake, whatever – but how can we let drake mess with Aaliyah’s legacy, that’s backward

  • OrHe’sJustCrazyHigh

    X must have Parkinson’s…

  • deez nuuutz

lmao this is comedy!! whats wrong with dmx? he’s the man no matter what though.

  • Bizzy

son! this was painful to watch :(

  • Gary

Sway is wack. DMX may be nuts but what he is saying is dead on.

  • DK

    ^Yeah clearly not all there.

  • bigErn

crack and alcohol is a hell of a mix

  • topher

i understand people are worried about aaliyahs musical legacy but the album isnt even out yet and no production credits have been revealed, dmx and everyone else talking ish like they know everything thats going on with the cd just sound dumb , and anyone thats a casual listener to any genre of music can say it all sounds the same, im not the biggest fan of drake but he does have variety unlike alot of other artists

  • Marr

Im a big drake fan but I think what dmx said was dead on.

  • who cares

Damn, X… I agree this was hard to watch. While I’m glad there is someone in the industry that can tell it how it is when it comes to Drake, X looks and sounds terrible. I still have yet to check out that new album, but I wasn’t impressed with that EP he released earlier. *Shrugs*

  • dishere

wow did anyone else think dmx did way too much crack before this interview!?! X is not looking too healthy!

  • js

how do you take a crack addict seriously?

  • TruthHurtsNigga

DMX is one of the most overrated rappers in history. He has one decent album at best.

After one album the whole ‘woof woof I’m a big bad doggy and shout over all my tracks to cover the lack of real substance and tiresome, repetitive subject matter’ thing gets old.

I laughed at the line about all Drake’s shit sounding the same.

Next Pusha T is going to be dissing Rick Ross for making songs about selling cocaine.

This, irrelevant, senile crackhead should’ve been kept in jail.

  • crackadon

i agree with X on this 110%, but how can he say some shit like this?

“it’s kinda the same all the time to me personally. It’s an annoying sound.”

has this dude heard his OWN music? X is always hootin and hollerin on every damn track like he’s a fucking dog. homie is the textbook definition of an “annoying sound”.

  • Rugo

why are rap niggers always so sensitive about everything and act like they really give a shit about someone elses legacy, when all they care about is money. FAGS!

  • ToolofGeorgiaBoys

Damn you guys really think that Drake & 40 are gonna ruin Aaiyah’s legacy, they know what they’re doing, f they didn’t they wouldn’t try, and how do you guys know Missy or Timbland won’t be included, and at the same time maybe Timbaland can’t produce the same magic from back then, because let’s face it when is the last time Timbaland put out a hit?, and I would love to hear her on some more 40 beats, with maybe some The Weeknd or Shanell features.

  • Damn i can see so many .GIF’s coming out of this, shiit man he’s fuckd up… still a legend

  • R

  • Some random (educated) Nigga :D

  • koke

DMX is absolutely correct. Drake is the same shit over and over again. Makes me want to throw up. Plus Drake is a faggot.

  • jose

DMX is absolutely correct. Drake is the same shit over and over again. Makes me want to throw up. Plus Drake is a faggot.

  • 120 120

  • Shawn

Seeing X like this is fucking hard but… he spoke the truth.

    X > Drake

    All day, everyday.

  • farfromtheworst

Damn… He looks horrible man… Kinda sad to see

  • realtalk™

i agree with what he said but this dude looks mad as fuck lol

  • qe

DMX body language suggests that he is mid-metamorphosis towards turning into an actual dog

  • wheremydogsat

  • jon doe

that man shaking like ray charles

  • jake in the taurus

homeboy fucked up! he looking fraile dog!!! too bad, someone got to him.

  • Yeah…he’s pretty fucked up…Seemed a bit more lucid on the Breakfast Club interview. Either way, the dude is speaking truth. Ok, Drake’s a fan of Aaliyah, but damn bro, you never even worked with her…EVER. You think of Aaliyah, you think of Timbaland and Missy….shit even R. Kelly. Why are they not being reached out to? BTW Timbaland said he didn’t get a call about it for the dude saying “how do we know”.

  • Geezy

My man DMX is straight zooted here, but he’s spitting pure honesty in regards to this posthumous Aaliyah release. Her family is not involved in this release, it took Timbo taking to Power 105 and stating that it wouldn’t be right if he wasn’t involved in the project (which Drake & 40 threw him a bone and are “allowing” him to produce 2 tracks).

Curious to see if his ass responds to this DMX shit, my guess is he’s gonna pretend that he didn’t hear it. X is a grimy muthafucka. Drake and that cupcake as crew of his know better.

  • ToolofGeorgiaBoys

You guys are acting like the album is done and is coming out tomorrow, we probably won’t see this album until next summer, if Missy & Timb reall wanted to be on the project, they would reach Drake, obviously he cares more about continuing her legacy than they do, and judging by the 1st single, it’s gonna be a great album

  • sillyniggas

the album is already out…. and its terrible

  • Ermac

I don’t know what ya’ll niggas complaining about on here X is moving around a little much but so the fuck what X is a hyped dude and what he was saying was pure truth…dat bitch Drake is a fuckin joke straight up

  • Nice

That nigga was cool this morning on the Breakfast 105.1 interview (Great Interview) i guess he got high on the way to this interview SMH damn ima pray 4 this nigga

  • dakidJAM

these comments are as good as that fukd up vid haha. agree wit x bout the collabs but wel see.drizzy talented as fuk tho

  • NiceSince93

I didn’t know rapfix let crackheads in the building.

  • DG

    Cocaine & alcohol withdrawals…

  • Camo

@ToolofGeorgiaBoys thats a disrspectful and frankly stupid statement. Who are you to say Drake cares more about Aaliyah’s legacy then Timberland or Missy? Have you met any of them? You said yourself the album wont be out for a while. Odds are they are both on the album. Think before you speak Georgia boy.

BTW DMX can do what he wants when he wants. He made a lane many rappers use to this day. On top of that he does exentric hillarious shit on a regular basis. IDGAF if he wants to smoke crack

  • Pedro

DMX is the “new” version of ODB !

  • ToolofGeorgiaBoys

@Camo how is my comment stupid & disrespectful, Missy & Timbaland say that they would do anything to preserve Aaliyah’s memory, but when asked to do a new album they both said they weren’t interested, but when Drake was approached he hopped right on board, and are you sure DMX can do anything?, so you’re saying he can produce an entire Aaliyah album by himself, because that would be horrible.

  • I read the last sentence in “madd rapper’s” voice. Fucking gold.

  • e

    DMX x Gangsta Gibbs ????????

  • Fuck You

Maybe they feel that Aaliyah’s memory would be best preserved by leaving her music exactly the way she did, instead of bringing a bunch of record labels and Disney Channel rappers to put out a product that she obviously never voiced any support for. In fact, ALL of the material that they are going to be interested in using was obviously material that SHE did not feel comfortable releasing. So MAYBE, Drake hopped on board because he’s an attention whore that never even met Aaliyah, and Timbo and Missy both know that it’s not something she would have supported.

  • slayingtheilluminati

    tell em X!!!
drake sucks monkeyballs like its his moms tits, shit sucksssssssssssssssss

  • Melanated Scribe

The God/Dog Anubis. Dark(melanin)Man X(unknown)….IT’S DARK AND HELL IS HOT, FLESH OF MY FLESH…, AND THEN THERE WAS X, THE GREAT DEPRESSION…& so on. the first rapper to ever drop 2 number 1 albums in one year….back when niggas actually sold records. the spiritual content of the god’s music along with his troubled childhood makes him something special. niggas lookin’ at the external shit and missin’ the point…drake aka wheelchair jimmy the jew is a bloodsucker of the culture. period. an actor playin’ a role for muhfuckas that mentally control stupid ass people like those above me with the crackhead jokes and all that….wake ya dumb asses up. your mother was probably a crackhead. smh nigga’s fall for anything, while one our queen’s legacy gets fucked with and tarnished by a certified cornball who the powers that be aligned with Wayne to make sure he blew up to poison the black youth……the secret relationship between blacks and jews continues……….go get your copy. idiots.
