A$AP Rocky’s “F**kin’ Problems” Goes Gold

blame it on Shake January 4, 2013

The A$AP General’s debut album Long.Live.A$AP might have been the victim of an early leak, but that isn’t stopping Rocky from putting up numbers. F**kin’ Problems — his Drake, Kendrick Lamar and 2 Chainz assisted single — has now sold over 591k copies, pushing it to Gold status. Shouts to HHNM on the numbers and super congrats to Rocky! Do your part and support the album when it drops on January 15th. Pre-orders are also available now.

Let’s be honest, take off Drake and 2Chainz and it ain’t doing those numbers.

His label Sony must’ve paid out the ass for all those features, same with the album. ‘1 Train’ has 6 features on it lol. On your debut album. Come on cuh.

  • stopit5

It probably wouldn’t have done those numbers, but I don’t think sony had to pay much! Rock, Drake, 2 Chainz, and Kendrick were all on tour together early this year… So my guess is, they it for the love.

  • First off Rocky has skillz, lets make that clear, he can hang lyrically with all those features you just mentioned, so to say that the other dudes make the song what it is, ummm pry not. And if you know anything about Rocky then you would know that those are all his friends (dude opened for Drake and 2Chainz on Take Care tour, not to mention Danny Brown on Rocky’s last tour), and he pry didn’t pay a dime for the love they showed him. Plus A$AP is all over the fuckin street right now, so Im sure they were happy to jump on one of the most anticipated albums of 2013 for their own promotion as well.

    ^nah, this nigga trash

  • Lance Geneva

@MidWestRyest – Said everything that I was about to say lol.. It’s deeper than rap..

  • marty mcfly

Rocky can not fuck with Drake lyrically. Lets take into consideration Drake from Come Back Season to Take Care. Drake has made some incredible verses and some incredible music. I know its cool to hate Drake but its no way Rocky has demonstrated that he can hang with Drake lyrically. Or Kendrick for that matter but congrats on his gold single though, it was meh. LOL

  • Was about to handle MidWestFlyest right quick but Marty pretty much put the homey in check! Yes, it’s “popular” to hate on Drake but your brain’s on drugs if you think A$AP can “hang lyrically with all those features you just mentioned”, Tity 2 Necklaces, YES!!! K-Dot & Drizzy? GTFOH!!

  • Lastly, I’m open minded/accepting of what hip hop has become but honestly? I gave this song a chance. 40 & Champagne Papi on the boards? Coo’! Drake & K-Dot features (Fuck 2 Chaaaaaaainz)? Alright. Spun this shit 10+ but it just isn’t sticking. Beat is terrible. Rhymes are lame to decent. Props to A$AP but let us NOT kid ourselves!! Reneging on the leak ’til the 15th to find out what’s really hood!

  • BayArea415

no shit it went platinum. look at the features. Now Thrift Shop going Gold is something to brag about. The dude did it on his own practically. Not hating on A4AP, i actually like him a lot, but of course a single is gonna go platinum when you have some of the hottest artists in the game on your track. This is really not a surprise at all, but still, congrats!

  • DaveG

Never say dude is “lyrical” when he can’t spit one bar off the top. His true freestyles are laughable. All this dude is is a record exec science project. Dude is super wack. He’s like a Chia-rapper. Throw some features on him, chi-chi-chi-chia!

  • MewLover34

@DaveG This comment is just a complete joke. Guy did his own thing and created one of the best hip-hop albums created in recent memory. Then he gets signed off that classic album, and does the same exact thing. It’s his own sound, and if you don’t like it I’m sorry, but your really missing out right now man. Doesn’t really get much better, I don’;t really care who we’re talking about.

  • please

^Get off the man’s dick, jesus. Classic album? what the hell are you talking about, livelongASAP was good not great, so classic, not a chance. A classic is illmatic or the chronic, those are classic albums.

  • MewLover34

Both are classic albums. Take Care is a classic album. Only time will tell, but I’m glad your so sure about yourself right now, I know I am.

  • Ol’Greg

Take care ain’t no classic the last classic to come out was probably the documentary by the game if u consider it classic at all……….been a lot of great dope albums not many “classics” that everyone can agree was classic and IMO a classic has to be non, illmatic, reasonable doubt, get rich, ready to die, chronic

  • yo

    it was the hook

  • brooklyn

^^ nothing regaurding judging music quality is non debatable, classic albums are classic because they are timeless, so if people are still playing take care in 10 years and love it the same, then it is a classic. You not liking it wouldn’t change that.

  • Lampz

The F*ck, this song is so f*ckin bad. What is wrong with all those people.

  • Nigga nigga nigga

Lets get it clear friends or not they are all signed to major companies rocky blew the bidget with this record and isn’t gonna see a dime off of it going gold this is a business Sony/RCA came out of pocket for the super assisted record it brought him the attention he needed but it took 3 major features just for rocky to chart it says a lot him and French can’t seem to carry a successful son on their own

  • Say what will about Drake, the man is a savvy marketer. Released Take Care in 2011. Took basically all the big up and coming names of 2012 and put them on his tour. Developed a relationship with all of them. Didn’t release any single. And basically just featured on hit after hit with all of them. Meek Mill “Amen,” French Montana “Pop That,” Kendrick Lamar “Poetic Justice,” 2 Chainz “No Lie,” Waka Flaka “Round of Applause,” and now thus single with ASAP. It’s actually kind of genius because Young Money is kinda sinking and I think Drake is ahead of the curve branching out to the new comers.

  • Jason Pack

Noah ’40’ Shebib deserves that plaque.

  • Jason Pack

    ear2ear, I feel your knowledge.

  • MewLover34

@Ol’Greg The Documentary is an awful album, why some people try to say that is “classic” (whatever this shit even means) is a mystery to me. Get Rich or Die Trying doesn’t hold up at all, this many years later and there are only a few songs on that shit that you might still want to listen to. If a lot of people feel the album is timeless then it’s a classic, that’s how it works. Eminem has 3, maybe 4 classic albums. Jay-Z has better albums than Reasonable Doubt. Don’t need to be a psychic to know Kendrick has two under his belt so far. Opinion…

  • marty mcfly

^^^ Nigga you said A$AP shit was classic? WTF, and The Documentary aint? Stop it and as far as this Kendrick nigga. I just wanna know cause nobody will just answer this shit and i’ll even help you out. Dying Of Thirst is a great song but other then that what songs from Kendrick album is classic? I just wanna know and wont even respond to that one question after its answered but seriously what Kendrick song from 2012 is CLASSIC? I just wanna know and A$ap’s album was just not all that so stop it. I’ll give that shit about three months and you wont even remember it.

  • MewLover34

@Marty Man I’m sorry, but the fact you think The Game has put out even one good song in his entire career makes me not respect your opinion all that much. The fact you said Dying of Thirst is the only “great” song on the Kendrick album makes me think even less of it. I’m not sure what part of this you don’t understand, but EVERY song on the album is classic, that’s the whole point, that’s why it’s a classic album. What the fuck are the good songs on The Documentary? I’m looking at the album and I just don’t see a single song on it I would ever want to listen to for the rest of my entire life.

  • marty mcfly

Yeah well, I dont take you serious either because I asked what songs on Kendrick’s album is classic and you said every song. What? Every song on that album is a classic? That lets me know you just fucking around. Do you know that the hip hop culture can go for years and years without even getting 1 single classic from any album? but you telling me Kendrick dropped like 16 classics in one year? NO just NO and as for The Documentary? 5 milli sold and bar for bar and beat for beat GKMC is no where even close to The Documentary. Other then its another rap album from Compton with a Dre Cosign.

  • marty mcfly

And I didnt say Dying Of Thirst was the ONLY great song. I said its a great song and yes there are others but a classic song is something entirely different from a great song. Its like the difference between the engine in a honda accord vs a F-22 Raptor.

  • MewLover34

Bar for bar? I don’t even know what to say to that man. You know that man can’t rap for shit right? Who wouldn’t have sold 5 million copies at the time his album dropped? Dr Dre & 50 Cent at the height of his popularity? If the guy happened to be a good rapper he would have sold 10. You want tracks off the Kendrick album? Here you go, 2,4,5,8,10 and 13 & 14 if we’re including the bonus tracks. Every one of those songs is about a billion times better than the best Game song could ever hope to be. Any decent song the man has ever put out is only good because of a feature from an actual good artist. #Real Talk

  • marty mcfly

I said years and years and maybe thats putting alot on it but definitely in the past hip hop has gone at least a year or two without getting a single classic song at times. The notion that Kendrick made a album of all hip hop classics is just crazy.

  • MewLover34

To pick one song off it and try to say it’s not classic is silly, the album as a whole is perfect, and you do it a disservice to try and break it down like that.

  • MewLover34

Btw this is the dumbest argument you could ever have. Nothing but subjective opinion going on here. I’m glad you feel passionately about the music you like.

  • marty mcfly

Westside Story > Sherane, easily from the beat to the rhymes
Dreams > Bitch Dant Kill, easily
Hate Or Love It > Backseat, easily

I mean I could basically do this for the whole album and rarely would it even be close even. LOL. When people say Kendrick’s album is a classic, they have to say well the whole album is classic but that dont even make sense. Cause the whole album cant be classic if not even 5 songs made it to the classic realm and thats my point.

  • MewLover34

Those 3 songs you just listed suck fucking balls man. Dreams? Hate It or Love It? Dude, you must be joking right now. Why not just say the other 2 awful singles as well?

  • MewLover34

I just don’t know what the fucking your talking about right now. The Documentary doesn’t have ONE SINGLE song that makes it into the “classic realm”. He sucks, the album sucks, period. Whats next man? Young Jeezy put out classic shit?

  • marty mcfly

Those songs were just the tip of the ice berg cause again I could put the whole tracklist up and its better then GKMC. Its not just my opinion but it’s also just reality for anyone who remembers the impact The Documentary had when it came out. A classic is based on opinion and its also based on time but its also based on something that is just automatically known throughout hip hop period like something that is so obvious it almost cant be argued. When someone says Kanye’s Jesus Walks is classic, its almost something that cant be argued because those that remember that album and that song, remember its impact. Kendrick did not impact the hip hop culture with every single song he put out on GKMC.

  • MewLover34

I don’t know what world you live in, maybe your just from Compton or something, but when The Game came on the scene he sucked then just as hard as he does now. I remember being like “why the fuck should I care about this douche that can’t spit one single quality bar?” Everything he has ever put out has sucked anus. Your living in a fantasy world man. The only people I knew that thought he was awesome had horrendous taste in music.

  • marty mcfly

Yeah they all had bad taste just like the other 5 million people who bought it within months of it release. Yeah OK and its not all about numbers but some shit is just too much to just be luck. sorry

  • MewLover34

No you right, and Justin Bieber makes awesome music

  • C-los

Just for the sake of Hip-hop heads, I gotta say that Joell Ortiz killed this beat so bad I don’t ever gotta hear the original
