Justin Timberlake – Suit & Tie f. Jay-Z (Lyric Video)

blame it on Meka January 24, 2013

Directed by Laban Pheidias

Justin’s first single in many years has received mixed reviews, from people praising it to people calling him a “Robin Thicke lane thief” (which, to me, is absurd since JT was around years before Robin flew across our timelines). Me? I enjoy the song, but it’s not compelling me to swap out my raw denim jeans and sneakers for a three-piece from Barneys Men’s Wearhouse and hard bottoms when I head out to spin a party. Anyways, before the official video drops you all can enjoy the lyric video of the single.

Just Timberlake has always made hits. Nobody can deny it. His music is ill! Especially over Timbo production. But I really can’t stand this song. This is the first time I heard about the Robin Thicke thing, but I kind of agree! It is his sound. Not to say JT needs to steal a style from anybody, but it issss really close to Robin Thicke.

I don’t know… I don’t like this song. I hope they bring back the real timbo/jt sound. …and the Jay-Z verse sounds as ’emailed’ as it gets lol..

Big JT fan but they’re right, it does sound like Robin Thicke, who was definitely doing this sound before Justin. Still excited for the album though

But Justin was doing it before Robin Thicke. Just listen to any of his albums. It’s just he’s been gone so long people forgot.

Don’t like the song still looking forward to the album though.

Actually ever since Robin Thicke’s first album I said that he sounded a lot like Justin Timberlake.

  • datdude

JT dropped a year before robin and his 2nd album dropped the same year as robins, so how the hell did JT steal “his” sound smh makes no sense to me…..just cuz robin has been puttin out albums more frequently with that sound doesnt mean he did it before him

It’s not about WHEN the artists came out that makes people think JT is stealing from Robin Thicke. It’s about the sound; the vibe. Without a doubt, this song has a sound/vibe that sits closer in the spectrum to what Robin Thicke’s sound is. That’s ok though. Overlap happens all the time in music. The song is solid and I’m sure JT will put out another great album.

This track is good. Just as good as any of the songs on his previous albums other than the big singles.. And that might be the problem, it needs to be a big single.

    • ChicaGo-Getter

We all know he has those. Besides, this is more of a grower. Kinda like a Beyonce single. Initially everyone is split about how they feel about this song and then a month later it’s everyone’s fav song. I already hear people who said they hated it when it first dropped talking about how much they love it now. Just wait until the radio spins pick up and the official video drops.

What is a Robin Thick Lane? Both of them are emulating Black singers and Black swag. So no, they are in the Black man’s lane.

Hov needs to be removed from this song tho. His verse was wack and it ruins the vibe of the song.

Other than that, the song is on point.
