Joey Bada$$ Speaks On Lil B Diss Track (Video)

blame it on Shake January 31, 2013

The other day, Lil B and Joey Bada$$ traded diss tracks ("I'm the Bada$$" and "Don't Quit Your Day Job" respectively). Sitting down with MTV, Joey shares why he responded to the BasedGod's initial attack.

"I just linked up with my homey [Lee] Bannon, and he played this beat and was like, 'Yo, Lil B dis record?' And I was like, 'Oh, 'ight'." "Who knows?" he responded when asked about the BasedGod's motives here. "But if somebody sends a jab at me, I'll just send one twice as hard. I really didn't have to respond, I don't feel so, but I just did it. I don't know why... [Actually] it's too easy, that's what it is. It's too easy, so I thought, 'Why not?' I'm just flexing my skill on him.

If Lil B chooses to go another round, Joey says he wouldn't respond as there isn't a need and he's already killed him. Now, can we get off this "beef" and get back to good music? Ok dope, check out the DJ Premier-produced "Unorthodox" right here.

"If Lil B chooses to go another round, Joey says he wouldn’t respond as there isn’t a need and he’s already killed him" ...what a little bitch

  • jedi

I thought both of their diss songs were weak as shit and I'm a big ProEra fan.

  • BeefIsCoolIfTheMusicIsGood

Them be fighting words Joey... Arrogant Joey.

  • FUCK

Shake is such a dickrider. Joey compared his shit to Ether and dropped struggle bars. I'm not a big Joey fan and I don't listen to Lil B but this shit was wack on all ends and Joey is mostly responsible for it. He initiated the beef by quoting the lyrics and then came with a weak ass track, Lil B didn't win either but Joey looked like a pretentious asshole.

  • Teton Gravity Research

This shit with Lil Betty is laughable and it will pass. For people to say they're a hip hop fan and they don't like Joey B as an NY rapper in a 2013 hip hop game is flat out contradictory nonsense. Fickle fucks.

  • nstill

Two delusion ass niggas. Both tracks were trash.

  • iblameyou

^^^ 3 if you include Shake

  • Jarvo

Lol at Joey, I'm a fan but that track was weak.

  • YouGots2Chill

WHAT BEAT???? Its just a loop!

  • justenjoythisshit

loved his mixtape and his vibe but this move makes him look like an immature little bitch.

  • Wonton Soup

"For people to say they’re a hip hop fan and they don’t like Joey B as an NY rapper in a 2013 hip hop game is flat out contradictory nonsense."

Get the entire fuck out of here. Because, as a hip hop fan, I don't like some 17yr old who basically learned how to sound exactly like Big L, it's nonsense? Man shut the fuck up.

  • adolfmayne

Shake please post that underachiever tape!

  • marty mcfly

It is crazy that some people hate on Joey Badass already as if he is some gimmicky horrible artist thats here to just make ignorant meaningless records. At least wait till he's a little more famous before you jump out and just hate at full force. I mean If you think Joey sounds like Big L or a young Nas or whatever rapper from the 90s era then how the hell does that make you mad? I mean if you hate just to hate thats cool but if your honestly mad because you looking at Joey like he's Soulja Boy or somebody like that then you trippin.

  • Punk Era

Creative Control a bunch of B -Team biters and Joey is a joke. And I don't think Lil B is good even but I take him more seriously.

  • apparentlyaproeradickridermez

Cosign. If you're a fan of hip-hop, you have to be a fan of Joey or at the very least appreciate his skill. Couple that with the fact that a majority of his peers are straight ass.
That being said, the diss wasn't really up to Joey's standards.

  • Nope

Lil B is one of the worst ever, horrible fucking rapper.

  • BakedoffFlakes

Funny how after this diss thing went around, a whoooole bunch of Joey Haters came out the cut. Funny huh? But before this everyone was like "Awww shit Joey bringing hip hop back" and shit. Everbody was feeling his success. Now everybody tryna say Pro Era actually sucks and that "Joey is hyped up" Y'all the one who hyped him up tho right? This is exactly why Hip Hop died in the first place.

    It wasn't the artists
It was the people who hold the most power in what music come out today
    The Fans
