  • who cares

  • J

Rihanna also won Best Short Form Music Video for ‘We Found Love’.

  • Trill O’Reilly

@Pauly D: He means every single song/album on this list was wack as fuck. Other than Adorn, I agree.

  • midwestbeast

lol @ take care being album of the year. But did what did u expect??? hip hop is tainted in the mainstream

  • naoshad

life is good def made the deadline

  • MewLover34

Lot of delusional people on here. Take Care could have won album of the year, it’s just that good. I’m still surprised there are people that like the last Nas album, it’s silly it was even nominated.

  • marty mcfly

Im not even really into Take Care that much and I liked alot of other albums better but on a Grammy level I think they may have looked at a full body of work, great individual songs and good singles and honestly Take Care does cover those bases and again that album is not even my kinda shit but if we gonna keep it real then keep it real. That album just has alot of good songs on one body of work, its that simple. I like Undun and Life Is Good and I’ve played the shit outta those two albums but song for song Drake just had a more artistic album considering all the elements that make for great songs and great albums. Underground Kings is crazy, Lord Knows is ridiculous, Take Care is a great collaboration, HYFR is fire and personally The Ride was one of the best songs to end an album on last year imo. Credit due

  • NesTa

Take Care was wack…suckiteasy lame niggas. Muhfuckas have no idea bout nothin…just stay losin @ life. LoL Good shit.

  • Raekwon

Nas need to retire, he’ll never make it in the mainstream

  • marty mcfly

Oh and I meant Look What You’ve Done was fire but HYFR was good too. Not to mention Over My Dead Body, Headlines, We’ll be Fine, Practice… I mean damn thats almost the whole damn album.

  • >__

I don’t think LIFE IS GOOD made the deadline folks

Coolin said this on February 10th, 2013 at 11:58 pm

Obviously it did since it was nominated.

  • NoWuff

Fuck the grammys! Music is all about personal preference

  • fuckallthehaters

wow i actually agree with marty mcfly comment for once!? well done the ride is so dope lyrically. chur bruh

  • Lu

yall fail to mention LECRAE – GRAVITY BEST GOSPEL ALBUM!

  • marty mcfly

@fuckallthehaters, WORD. Thats how you end a album right there.
Drake – “My junior and senior will only get meaner Take care, nigga”.

  • Jzone

Who cares about a fucking deadline?

In the end this is the grammys. Its like “mtv choice awards” but for grownup folks looking to lick eachothers asses.
Bottomline: Mainstream gets the gold plaque.

  • Pauly D

Life Is Good didn’t win anything because the Grammy people realize what anyone who ISN’T a Hip Hop Head already knows–Nas has already peaked and it was almost 10 years ago.

  • scoopball

Nas been nominated 18 times, 22 including this year ad has never won. Shame…

  • Clayton Bigsby

Nas should retire. He should if singing rappers are winning Grammy’s. Obviously rap is done. No need for a real artist to make music anymore.

You can just take an actor give him some auto tune and people think he can sing and rap.

When rappers used to sing and just as a joke as Nas or biggie did it. They would be ran out the game.

    The record companies get it.

Enough suckers don’t know real music. They can create a Drake or a Nikki Minaj because it’s easier than finding the next Nas or Alicia Keys.

When they can sell you a Wiz or a Two Chains they can sell you anything.

If I gave Wiz a dollar I would want to kill myself. First my dollar might have bought that jacket. Even worse my dollar would be supporting a weirdo fucking a whore.

  • Take Care was so garbage. I only liked Underground Kings on it and all else was wack. Nas’s album is still in my rotation and I love that album almost to it’s entirety. Mainstream Good Ol’ Boy’s Club aka The Boule’ at work…lol.

  • marty mcfly

You dont have to sing to win a grammy cause you see Jayz up top drinking D’usse out his grammy like it aint nothing and he aint sing shit. Nas just didnt have the best rap album and thats that but he shouldn’t retire based on not winning a grammy. CNN just crowned him the Goat last month so even when Nas loses here he still wins in other areas. I tell you what though, its alot more rapping on Take Care then it is rapping on Andre 3k’s Love Below album but some of you still call him a rapper. Just saying

  • Dashboard

Adorn was the best r&b song of the year that going be the shit 10 years from now

  • Jus10

wow. I def do not agree with ANY of these choices.

  • Yasser

Killer Mike R.A.P. Music was Album of the Year, who gives a shit about the grammys

  • mynameismyname

i dont know why u lot are all complaining, read the title of the catagory… best RAP album, not HIPHOP album. there isnt even a hiphop catagory anymore, if there was then nas would have won. rap isnt hiphop unfortunatly….

  • T9FTW

What’s the point of award shows anyway? They’re gonna go with the most mainstream every time. Tell me, how did I know a black wannabe, fake, Jewish actor with autotune would win?!

  • AAA

i dont know why u lot are all complaining, read the title of the catagory… best RAP album, not HIPHOP album. there isnt even a hiphop catagory anymore, if there was then nas would have won. rap isnt hiphop unfortunatly….
mynameismyname said this on February 11th, 2013 at 8:56 am

Makes sense, I forgot that Take Care falls more in the RAP category than Life is Good. Nas’s album has to many soft records to be a Rap album….

  • Anon

I agree with the choices. All those songs and albums were the most popular, none of the songs or albums were garbage. Im glad to see Frank get one…hopefully he make ‘straiter’ music this year O.o

  • @ AAA

  • F Eddie

Take Care is rap ?? Wow Wack……

  • Truth

Only winner I agree with is Robert Glasper that album was smooth man real R&B shit

  • al sharpton

whoever said Life is good is softer than Take care, take your faggot ass back to gaga’s closet. yall niggas depress me. Aubrey been the softest nigga since before RAP. I hope an OVO stan reads this, drakes music is softer than baby shit dipped in baby oil, rolled in baby powder. i bet its so hard coming from the bottom of Canada, straight to an acting gig. Put take care in the alternative genre or somethin, shit is about as real as nicki minaj body. Dont get me wrong, hov and the rest of those soulless demons are doin their thing. Champagne sloppy just gets less and less talented, til we find him makin songs with soulja boy and basedgod.

  • Clayton Bigsby

al sharpton : You do realize you would have to be kind of gay to take care in the first place.

    Dman you fags are funny.

  • Clayton Bigsby

al sharpton: I’m going to have to apologize to you. I completely read your first sentence wrong.

  • marty mcfly

Now you fools are making the hip hop vs rap argument? Stop it. Jayz won with a song called NIGGAS in Paris (the title alone is offensive to alot of people) and another song called No Church For The Wild. Those two records are hip hop records. So again, Nas didnt win best rap album because Life Is Good was not the best rap album and neither was Killer Mike’s R.A.P music album. Was Take Care the best rap album? idk but it’s gonna be hard to show how any other album was better especially once we start talking commercial performance. I said Drake would win a grammy for best rap album way before the grammy’s last night and this is why I said back then that if you like Life Is Good then go buy a copy so that the sales come close or outdo Drake. Sales aint everything, they not even respected in hip hop anymore but I knew that it might become a factor later down the line, especially when its judged by people from outside the culture. Oh well there’s always next year.

  • marty mcfly

And dont come back at me with the whole, how many it sold doesn’t matter shit cause its not the just the numbers. Its the songs on the album that made for the numbers. Drake had better singles then Nas even though Nas had good singles. Headlines, Make Me Proud, The Motto, Take Care and HYFR was just too much commercially for Nas to beat with Nasty, The Don and Daughters.

  • JAyP

Nas CD made the deadline but when you really think about it IT ACTUALLY DIDNT! It came out kinda later than the other songs especially Niggas In Paris and Church In The Wild.. those songs had COOOONSTANT play throughout the year… I think if LIfe Is Good came out around the same time, it would have been a little more of a hard choice

I wish Cherry Wine would have won tho I love that song!

  • T9FTW

@marty mcfly “Niggas in Paris” was the worst shit that came out of RocNation. That track was bullshit, the worst on Watch the Throne.

  • the realest

take care should have won best urban contemporary or some shit. in a min frank ocean finna win best rap album. done.

  • marty mcfly

@T9FTW, yeah im not really into Niggas In Paris that much but millions of people are. When they can go on tour around the globe and from anywhere between 10 – 30 mins they can do that one song and people act like their going completely insane every time they hear it, thats a powerful song.

  • marty mcfly

I would say J Cole’s singles, all of them except Miss America from his new shit, are some of the worst songs to come outta Roc Nation. Work Out, Cant Get Enough, Nobodies Perfect, In The Morning, and Sideline Story is some of the worst songs ever from the Roc. Even Memphis Bleek put out better singles back in the day.

  • marty mcfly

Who Dat… How does one artist make so many bad singles in just one year? Only reason some of this bullshit sold is because of the Jayz affiliation and the big name features like Drake and Trey Songs. Hopefully his new shit is better but damn these songs are trash.

  • AJ

Why are all of you spazzing.. the grammy’s doesnt support hip hop we have like 2 categories max….

  • @Trill O’Reilly you bitch ass nigga

    “Other than Adorn, I agree.”

oooooohhhhh faggot nigga. disregarded your entire shit

  • MassAppeal

The Grammy’s mean nothing at this point, and Life is Good is an excellent album. End of story.
