dope but the original is so much doper

  • http://eyinjay.wordpress.com Ian J

I love the Apollo Brown Version. Lucky enough to have gotten the cassette!

  • marty mcfly

Why Ghost put out this album that had no anticipation whatsoever instead of Supreme Clientele 2 I do not know.

  • Anti-Terror

I already bought the Deluxe package! Somebody shoot me a DL link for this version! I have the cassette tape but I don't wanna open it up, plus I don't even have a tape player!

  • BONGWATER

THIS SHIT IS FUCKING DOPE KID

  • who cares

Dope! Can't wait to listen to this version. Glad they're going beyond the cassette only idea because I wouldn't have any way to actually listen to it. BTW my package still hasn't come! Soul Temple has the slowest shipping in the fucking world.

  • DBS

The beats are nice but the original version is better, I might cop the vinyl with the instrumentals, I love me some Apollo.

  • FeedMeBeer

very rarely is a remix album as good as the original

    good fuckin job Apollo Brown

  • MewLover34

@marty mcfly, I think it's cause he wanted to put out a good album instead.

  • marty mcfly

Listen to this album and the listen to Supreme Clientele. What style is better and what would've been a better choice at this stage in the game for Ghostface and for hip hop? Ok then

  • AndONeill

@marty he released this for us to anticipate supreme clientele 2.!! He wil drop that shit later in the year,, I been waitin on that shit too., ghost never disappoints when it comes to albums.! My opinion anyway

  • MewLover34

@marty mcfly, Sorry man, but I don't know what planet your living on if you think his follow up to a 13 year old album will live up to any kind of hype you seem to be placing on it. He would be much better of trying to recreate that sound, without using the "2" tag on it, people wouldn't freak out trying to compare them. But more to the point, I'd bet good money this album will be much better than that one, whenever it is released.

  • MewLover34

@marty mcfly, and yeah "at this stage in the game" this is the better album to release, much better to go in a different direction than to try and cash in on a "sequel" gimmick.

  • marty mcfly

So in your opinion releasing this shit is a better decision then a Supreme Clientele? NO, what hype did this project live up to? Oh yeah it has no hype. Did OB4CL2 live up to the hype? Id say yes and if you disagree then fine but when Rae made that album and alot of fans had a very positive reaction to the final product. This album really served no purpose and it'll be forgot by the end of next week and thats coming from a Ghost fan. Im not a huge fan of the sequel style albums but with an album like Supreme Clientele, thats deserving of a part 2.

  • MewLover34

@marty mcfly, I'm just saying you have no idea what that album will sound like, I agree OBFCL2 was dope, but that same outcome may not happen again. Whereas here you have an incredible album top to bottom. It sounds to me like your not feeling this one at all, you can explain why if you like, but I'd just say this is some of the best production hes ever rapped on, certainly in recent memory. I don't know how you could say people will "forget" about what is clearly one of his better albums. I'm all for SC2, I'm just not gonna knock an awesome album here and ask for something completely unknown instead.

  • marty mcfly

I like Rise Of The Black Suits the original version and thats about it. So no its not quite that incredible imo and also since you know I get scientific with this shit. If the album is called 12 reasons to die, then what are the 12 reasons? Now we dont have to take it that deep but im only saying what the damn title of the album is so... This shit just didnt connect imo and Ghost need to leave the movie shit to RZA and back on some Wally Champ/ strawberry kiwi type shit/ Heavy rain fucked my kicks up
Wasn't looking, splashed in the puddle
Bitch laughing, first thought was beat the bitch up/ Bong bong bong! Your bell went rung rung rung... type shit

  • MewLover34

lol, if you don't like it you don;t like it, it's all good. You'll get all the shit on the next one, I just think it's refreshing when an artist steps outside their comfort zone and succeeds (imo) at it. And idk the 12 reasons has something to do with the 12 people in the crime family that killed him, if there is something beyond that, I'm sure it's in there somewhere, only listened to the album a few times, but I just think it's a solid effort from him. Wish it was longer though, the story moves a bit too fast.

  • Chris

Just stop arguing with Marty Mcfly! There's no winningEven when he's wrong! Once he posts his "opinion" there's no persuading him! I learned that a long time ago! And Apollo Brown's version>>>

    So yeah...

  • AllDayGB

@marty you're so simple minded b. You can never follow stories of an album, if you dont understand the title than that means 1. you probably didn't listen closely enough or 2. you didn't give the album enough spins to catch the plotline. The story is there, you just didn't listen

  • JDub519

After listening to both mixes, some songs I like on the original better; such as "The Center of Attraction." Some songs I like better on this better; such as "Revenge is Sweet."

  • JDub519

After listening to both mixes, some songs I like on the original better; such as "The Center of Attraction." Some songs I like better on this; such as "Revenge is Sweet."

  • marty mcfly

@AllDay, I didnt say that I didnt follow the storyline, you did. Try again

  • K Rich

This album version is dope but I like the original better. The artwork for this version is 10x doper tho. Might use this in my itunes instead lol

  • AllDayGB

@Marty you clearly didn't if you're questioning the title of the album.

  • marty mcfly

The twelve reasons are the twelve records left behind for the other members of Ghosts crew but could that have been artistically delivered better? YES, and could each of the reasons been more alot specific? YES. Ghost (or Delucas in the story) is a dope rapper but im not gonna act like everything he does is golden just because his name is Ghostface.

  • marty mcfly

    alot more specific..

  • marty mcfly

Excuse cause now you got me fuckin up. The Delucas is the crime family that Ghost is a part of before he makes his own crew that goes to war with them. Now if I or somebody else gets the story fucked up the who's fault is that? The listener or the person telling the story? People gonna have different opinions on that answer but its a matter of opinion.

  • AllDayGB

I guess it's safe to say we're gonna disagree. If you dont get the concept and everyone else does, that's more on your ears than it is on the artist himself. While I want Supreme Clientele 2 to come out as well, I'm not going to overlook this Ghostface effort

  • marty mcfly

I said nothing about overlooking this project and lets say everyone gets this album and I dont since thats what you believe. The point I was making has more to do with the anticipation and overall impact of this album vs potentially a Supreme Clientele 2. I could be wrong, YES I could be but I do believe that Supreme Clientele 2 would've been more effective then this album.

  • AllDayGB

I'm just going off what you said, "If the album is called 12 reasons to die, then what are the 12 reasons?" I caught the Twelve Reasons concept, that seems to say you didn't. Excuse me if that's not what you said in your own words. There is no reason Ghost can't release this and Supreme Clientele in the same year like he said he would. While you may not have the same excitement about this album, doesn't mean that others wont. To say it had 0 anticipation just does no justice to Ghostface, he is at a point where if you're a fan you're going to anticipate anything he drops. Just because it has a familiar name doesn't mean that you should anticipate it anymore than a new concept of his.

  • MewLover34

And again I come back to, maybe he wanted to try something different for a change. At this stage in his career he's earned the right to try new things and experiment with his sound. When artists like him are doing that, it's very good for hip-hop.

  • marty mcfly

@AllDayGB, ok I could go on about what I meant with my comments but no need, you believe what you want. Also this is not the first time i've made this comment about Supreme Clientele 2 cause its been a few years now and this is not the first time someone has defended him by saying he wants to try something new, or you just dont get him etc etc... Well I hope this album does whatever you think its supposed to do and well see how well it does.

  • MewLover34

So if it doesn't sell well it sucks? Because it has gotten incredible reviews, and I'd assume most fans are pretty happy with it, pretty sure that's what really matters.

  • runt

    @marty mcfly

you're just mad your favourite rapper (aka your favourite sexual fantasy) jay-z isn't dropping dope music anymore while ghost never disappoints. who cares what the album is called, it's good either way.

  • runt

the rise of the black suits brown tape version is fire. vintage wu sound right there

  • 88

they sent an e-mail to everyone who bought the original album, apologizing about the delay in shipment. now they're releasing the brown tape on digital/CD/vinyl? way to hustle the people who bought the deluxe edition, expecting the brown tape cassette would have some rarity to it. just sent a response, requesting an order cancellation and a refund for my deluxe. getting the cassette brown tape has lost all significance now. these guys were really foolish to release the brown tape so soon, imo. should have released it in a year or two, after it's gained some mystique/rarity, and after a year of having people listen to the cassette version, wishing there was a cleaner version. i think the brown tape's CD/vinyl release would have more hype/notoriety, if they did that. also, releasing two versions of the same album so close together really doesn't give either of them the credit they deserve by giving them space to breathe on their own. discussions will now steer more towards comparing the two versions, rather than critiquing each version on its own merit. oh well.

regardless, i think the brown tape's a pretty good mashup album. i liked it, from the listen i gave it yesterday, although i was a bit rushed for time.

btw, that arthur verocai sample on the remix album's version of enemies all around me is nice.

  • nuff

dopest album of the year so far

  • nuff

also shut the fuck up marty you trolling asshole

  • marty mcfly

@MewLover34, sales is a factor but I wont go there with Ghost even though I should. Ghost been rapping since before alot of MCs were and I always hear Ghost is this and Ghost is that but what's them sales looking like? Now I didnt say the album sucks even though I've heard better from Ghost in the past and I dont care about reviews because they gonna say whatever makes them look like hip hop heads. Again the point I was making has to do with Supreme Clientele 2 and imo there is no way in hell this album could compete with that and it doesn't matter how dope this album is. Now you'll say well you haven't heard Supreme Clientele 2 so how do you know? I'll say that the game itself is very simple minded so imo this album will come and go like a ghost (no pun) but something like a Supreme Clientele 2 at this moment in the game would have got a huge reaction and thats basically 98% of the whole point I was making. Imo when you talk about Ghost fans your talking about alot of people who bought older Ghostface material and probably haven't even heard this album. @runt LOL you comparing Ghostface to Jayz? You funny

  • marty mcfly

  • MewLover34

I think you just said sales are a determining factor of how good an album is. I hope you meant something else by that. Maybe the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I'll think twice about responding to you in the future, although I should have thought that already when you said The Game was better than Kendrick Lamar. *facepalm*

  • marty mcfly

I think you probably agree with me and thats why you act is if your unsure what im saying and you respond to things that you assume I mean instead of just addressing exactly what I mean. As for sales, I dont know why people have a problem when people mention sales. This is Ghost's 10th album in the last 20 years so when would be the appropriate time to mention sales? Why is that not a factor? You've never looked at how much an artist sales? COMEONSON. The reason people dont wanna go there with Ghost is because dont wanna acknowledge the fact that maybe he aint as poppin as they think he is. Ghost could've kept the music on this album the same way it is and with a little more focus on anticipation maybe it would've been a number one album for him finally. So the reason a mention the potential impact of a Supreme Clientele makes sense. As for Kendrick vs Game? When Kendrick has put a decade in and has done as much as Game then we can talk but until then NO Kendrick is not better then Game. Game has put too many dope albums and mixtapes up already for Kendrick to just pass him with one major album.

  • MewLover34

You can look at sales all you like (and I do, just to see what the album did out of curiosity), but if your saying that how many people buy an album has anything to do with how good the album is, I don't think I could disagree more. As far as Ghost is concerned, yeah he doesn't sell records, ever, and never will. Does that have any impact on how good a rapper he is? I'd sure hope your answer is no. aaaaand Game sucks, he is without a doubt one of the worst rappers to ever make it big. He has never released a good album nor mixtape, and he never will because he is not any good at his chosen profession. So yeah Kendrick (and any artist on the planet) passes him right by with one good project, not to mention Kendrick has more than one album, and multiple mixtapes, every one better than the one before it.

  • marty mcfly

Sales do have to do with how people feel about that record. If the album is selling alot then that leads me to believe that people are enjoying it. Now yeah there are cases where people are buying trash but in some cases people are buying the album because its actually good. Now Ghostface has what, anywhere between 1 to 5 million fans out there? Probably and certainly they are aware that he's still rapping so if his shit dont even strike gold then id say there's a problem. Does that mean Ghost is not a good rapper? NO, it just means not too many give a fuck. You cant say Ghost never will sell records cause he has before and yeah times have changed but what category or standard should I hold Ghostface in? A Rookie? No. Now i've listened to albums that barely sold anything at all and still liked them but Ghostface happens to be a worldwide known artist thats not selling. As for Kendrick, i've never heard any project from him that better then the Documentary on no level period and on a lyrical level? No matter how many speed raps Kendrick kicks about some lost black females, that just aint enough for the range and lyrical ability of Game. Im not a huge Game fan but it is what it is. Most rappers will not impact the culture the same way Game did and thats just reality.

  • MewLover34

I disagree with what your saying about sales, and yeah I'm not gonna repeat the same argument we had months ago. Game sucks, Tha Documentary is an awful album, "it is what it is", blah blah w/e.

  • MewLover34

What you've said about Game there though is laughable...

  • marty mcfly

I dont know what you could disagree with as far as sales. Ever since there has ever been a music industry in any genre of music whatsoever, that opinion about sales in relation to if people actually like the material has always been there and its a pretty easy concept to understand. Now Games last album didn't sell alot and I still think its dope so clearly I dont think sales are everything but my opinion doesn't change. Is Ghostface dope? YES but is bringing up sales a crime when talking about a hip hop veteran with millions and millions of fans? No. As far as my last comment about Game? I dont know what there is to disagree with there either. Were you a hip hop fan in 2004- 2005? OK then you should know that what im saying is the truth. Game was on fire like a mothafucka so yeah it is what it is. Did GKMC even go platinum yet with all its hype and glory? Does it really make a difference as far as how good it is? NO, it just indicates how many have been sold.

  • MewLover34

I don't know what part of this is hard to understand: GAME CAN NOT RAP, at all, like he isn't any good at what he does for a living. I remember his debut vividly, and it sucked hard then, it is a complete joke of an album now, when everyone is over the bullshit 50 Cent/Dre hype machine that allowed him to be successful. I fully understand your point about sales, and I'm fine with it, but what I'm saying is just as true, Hypothetically an album could be perfect and not sell anything, just as a complete piece of shit could sell 20 million, and everything in between. Your argument that his album is good because it was big is silly.

  • marty mcfly

Kendrick would get destroyed by not only Game but any real MC especially from the era of real lyricism (the 90s) . Kendrick survives now in this era because its soft and lyrically simple. He can barely keep up with Drake so please spare me with his cartoon sounding rhymes.

  • MewLover34

And with that I lose all respect I had left for your opinion, to bad you don't like good music...

  • marty mcfly

I like big dicks in my ass and I have absolutely no taste in music. I think that "fans" of Ghostface Killah only listen to his old shit and think that this new album sucks. I think Jay-Z is Jesus and I want to have sexual relations with him. I also think that Kendrick is a weak MC who can't compete with my boyfriend Drake and the namedropping God, Game. I'm such a huge fan of Hip Hop, can't you tell?

  • ushabti

someone post a link for this in mp3 format please i also need the instrumental version of 12 reasons to die.they only sent me disc 1. thanx

  • Mcflyneedsmeds

Why y'all argue with Mcfly? He obviously has mental health issues, if he spends his whole life on this site arguing with strangers. Ignore him, maybe he'll get bored and seek professional help.
