Rapsody – Jedi Code f. Phonte & Jay Electronica (prod. 9th Wonder)

blame it on Shake August 20, 2013

On the last leak off her DJ Drama-hosted She Got Game mixtape (dropping later today), not only does Rapsody call on Phonte for a much needed verse, she also brings out Jay Elect for the second time in less than two weeks (the first obviously being on Big Sean’s insanely popular “Control” single with Kendrick Lamar.

9th Wonder beats still bland as fuck

  • david

@runt it’s minimalist but producers/beat-makers are often tempted to over-layer beats and that ruins it or makes it difficult for MCs to rhyme over

Jay Elec sounds a lot like Masta Ace here but not complainin about that. Nice beat, nice verses and an excuse for 2DB to talk about Kendrick, everybody wins!

  • MARCOpolo

9th wonder Still the Greatest of All Time!!!

  • I don’t think Rhapsody is the most talented rapper, but she manages to put out quality mixtape after mixtape after album with some of the best features and producers, consistently. That Premo joint from this Drama tape was a banger, I love her over any AMP production, and this track right cheaa with Jay Elec and Tigallo doesn’t disappoint. She deserves to be supported.

  • Deeinc

This beat is mediocre at best, damn near annoying at times. Phonte was the highlight. They (jamla) really dropped the ball with this one, this joint could’ve been really special w/ the jay electronica feature.

  • JayAvent

The beat is classic. This song is a banger. Jamla hit a home run with this one.

  • jworks

Jay Elec is really not that hot on this.

  • Tell Me

where else have I heard this sample… anyone know?

  • Record Miner

This Joint is crazy sick I’m proud of Rapsody’s progress. Big up to Jamla

  • somebody

that beat is so damn bland. Ive been a Justus league fan since 03 back when 9th was giving heat to Cesar Comanche(in Stephen A Smiths voice of disgust)

  • word

scratching my head at these black and white comments…. @david hit the mark

  • yo

Rapsody is alright but imo a bit over-hyped these days. And for some reason I don’t like most of the beats that 9th gives to her. Not into this futuristic/electronic sounding type shit. This beat is better though.

Sample btw is: Focus – Hocus Pocus (1971)

Just discovered this track, thanks to 9th!
