A week after it’s original release, Stalley’s Honest Cowboy project landed a “Mixtape of the Year” nomination at the upcoming BET Hip Hop Awards (Oct. 13). Backed by features and production from ScHoolboy Q, Cardo, Terrace Martin, DJ Quik, Block Beattaz, Rashad, Scarface and others, the tape showed growth without straying from his signature sound. And now with Maybach Music Group’s third installment of their Self Made 3 series hitting shelves today, Stalley decided to package up five of the best tracks, include two Rashad-assisted bonuses and hit iTunes with his first official retail release.
“Honest Cowboy was nominated as best mixtape of the year, so with all the craziness from the drop we decided to put it out as an EP and add two new songs,” Stalley told MTV News.”They’re both produced by my homie Rashad who’s also from Ohio. I know my fans love to hear me and him together because we did Lincoln Way Nights (Intelligent Trunk Music) together. That whole mixtape was just me and him so I wanted to give the fans something special from me and him and they’ll get a feel of the direction that the album’s going in.”
