Nipsey Hussle Reveals Inspiration Behind $100 Crenshaw Tape, Announces New Single

blame it on Shake October 25, 2013

When Nipsey Hussle first announced he was selling his (free) Crenshaw mixtape for $100 a pop, many laughed, many were confused (including me) and many flat out got upset (like… really?). The goal was to sell a thousand copies and since the first day, the number is well beyond it (even Jay-Z copped 100). Thriving off the massive amount of press he’s received, the West Coaster ventured out East for a lengthy media run. Including in the trip was a 30-minute sit down with Cipha Sounds and Rosenberg on Hot 97 where Nipsey reveals the inspiration behind selling the project for 100 singles, speaks on the gang culture in 2013, his relationships with TDE, YG and other Left Coast reps and more.

Nipsey then settled in at Sway in the Morning and spoke on the same topics but also revealed the new single off his upcoming album Victory Lap will be called “Rap Niggas.” And according to the Crenshaw spitter says “It’s not for the radio, but it needs to be said.” If you have another 30-minutes to spare, check the clip down bottom (which also showcases a couple freeverse bars as well).
