TDE To Release Six Albums In 2014

blame it on Meka December 23, 2013

It’s no secret that Top Dawg Entertainment had a “relatively quiet” 2013 since the label did not release any albums (but instead, signed two new artists in Isaiah Rashad and SZA, a handful of singles from each of their flagship artists, and received their first Grammy nominations, among other things). The rather reclusive head of TDE, Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith, however, did take to the Twitter a few days ago to make a rather brief announcement on the label’s plans for the upcoming year:

We already know that ScHoolboy Q is slated to release his major label debut, #OXYMORON, on February 25th, and it’s also been reported that Ab-Soul, Jay Rock, Kendrick Lamar, and SZA have been working on their own respective projects, while Isaiah Rashad had mentioned releasing his debut mixtape before the year’s end. One can only wonder what, exactly, TDE will do this year (TDE/Black Hippy compilation? New signings? Establishing a new chicken and waffles restaurant to take down Roscoe’s?), but we’ll all have to wait and see.

Waits for Isaiah Rashads new tape and hopefully Jay Rock will drop a new project dude hasn’t dropped anything since 2011

  • Crystalweed

    omg…2014 is my year.

  • LaFlame

I’ll believe it when I see it

    • Goldberg brain

Exactly…i hope they’re not on that young money shit, promise a bunch of albums then only release 1 or 2

      • LaFlame

Yea it’s not like we’ve been waiting for Oxymoron for a year

        • Alonzo

lol that joint gonna be underwhelming at this point

  • reachcloud9

We’ll be lucky to get 2 albums

  • veesky

Last I heard, K. Dot wasn’t planning on starting to work on his next project til next month, so his is the one I won’t hold my breath for. Should be Q, Rock, Soul then everybody else. Regardless, looking forward to new/good music

  • AmIDickRidingyet

I’m thinking not everyone is dropping a solo lp. Maybe they’ll do a collab album or something. Crossing my fingers for that Young Detox aka Cole Lamar album

  • Mez D

I’m not even really looking forward to kendrick’s album cause GKMC was so good

    • Jay Selva

I’ve not even properly started on GKMC yet because I love Section.80 too much!

  • Alonzo

I think 2013 was Kanye and Drakes year not TDE

and this nigga need to stop tweeting lol let the music talk, Kendrick gonna do him and hopefully Soul get an album in stores niggas waiting

  • Dj Dneek

They Should Drop Them On The Same Day With A Deluxe Bundle Pack For 55 Bucks, Wit The Regular Version is A Separate Artist Cd

  • TK

We’ll get an album from Q and Soulo, mixtapes from SZA and Rashad, Rock will be featured tons maybe a mixtape and Kendrick will continue to get way to much attention (but still kill it don’t get me wrong) when the real talent is TDE as a whole

  • Jay Selva

People complain that there wasn’t much movement from TDE this year considering the buzz they built up in 2012. But thing is, the Soul, Q and most of all Kendrick projects still had traction this year too. I think that’s what you get with TDE, longevity. You get other collectives that put out so much music so frequently that isn’t great quality and you forget most of it after a couple months. I’m still fucking with Habits and Contradictions and that was nearly two years ago now!

your saying this after scHoolboy Q’s “oxymoron” got delayed by multiple months? i bet half of those albums wont be released until 2015
