Grieves – Serpent (Video)

After kicking things off with “Shreds,” Grieves returns with the second set of visuals from his new album, Winter & The Wolves.

“With the track being about witnessing someone’s addiction, I wanted to make a video that kind of orbited that idea but had another take on it. Essentially this video is about the artist quitting a destructive relationship, all the while being reminded of what it is tempting to have been in it in the first place. And while that is the narrative spine of it all, what really interested me is getting a chance to take the tropes of rap videos (isolated studio performances intercut with location shots and close ups of girls and inanimate objects) and put them together in a way that would seem fresh to me. The key to it all making sense in my head was to make a video where the studio shots directly influence the location shots in a cinematic way. Structurally, the things that happen in the video exist in parallel planes that all kind of influence each other with the performance being a sort of monologue.” – John Bollozos
