RZA Responds To Raekwon’s “On Strike” Comments, Movies & More

blame it on Meka April 21, 2014

If you have the time to listen to this, you should definitely do so. After Raekwon voiced his displeasure about the direction of the Wu (among other things) last week, RZA – while on a promo run for his upcoming films Brick Mansions and The Protector 2 – hit Hot 97 to talk movies, million-dollar music, and much more.

Wu-wear is the cheapest made clothing ever. *Check the ODB vh1 bio: Rza would not let ODB sign with Roc-a-fella without forcing ODB to put Rza on his album. smh FUCK RZA

  • Guest

Rza talking all this knowledge shit and then doesn’t want to put the cure out, which supposedly is about kicking knowledge, I don’t understand Rza lately.

  • DatN-word

The fuck? Why the hell do those members want other producers on the album? Don’t make no fucking sense. Stupid ass niggas.

  • j4ipod94

Rae wants other producers because it worked for OB4CL2. It still had that classic wu sound. but when we look at wu tang albums as a group only the core producers know how to work and bring out the best out of ALL the MCs to make a good project
Rae has a point when it comes to the final product. he said he didnt know that the other kid was gonna be on that first single. I think he should have input on who features on the record

  • MidKnightMaRawder

I don’t know about you guys but DO NOT want swizz beatz on Wu. lol

    • Pizza Steve

You are not alone my friend lol

    • alwalker

      Why not?

  • iAmRafy

All BS aside, Rza is an extremely smart individual and it sounds like he knows what he’s doing business wise.

  • Keep it under the Wu, so the value sticks.

As much as I am a RZA fan, I wouldn’t mind other producers getting involved with the album. Kanye, Alchemist, and Just Blaze are just a few of the producers he and Wu have influenced and it would be dope if they got on their last album.

Sidebar: I can only imagine what song they would have made with that “New God Flow” instrumental.

    • BuckDat

Wu Tang X Alchemist would be crazy!!!

    • Stian Nicolaysen

Erick Sermon, 9TH Wonder, Madlib, Chuck Inglish, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, DJ Quik, DJ Battlecat, Terrace Martin, Statik Selektah. Bong bong.

Its not just beats, its that paper. People dont care if its RZA beats or anybody else cause people gonna hate no matter what. Its the money thats the issue. I feel where Rae is coming from to a degree but who gonna pay Kanye for some beats? Then who gonna pay nine niggas a million dollars a piece for an album thats gonna get downloaded for free? I blame the hip hop heads cause if the Wu knew for a fact that they would be supported on another album they would do their thing and each go home with money in their pocket. The way the game is now, it dont even matter if you a legend with something classic. People dont love hip hop anymore, its just background noise to fuckery at this point.

  • marty mcfly

Let it be an album from Black Hippy and fools will be acting like they fully support. You got something from the Wu though and people wanna act like since they not a part of the creative process then they shouldn’t have to pay for it.

  • Pizza Steve

Don’t read the facts, hear it right from the source – RZA

  • What about U-God? Im sayin?!?

  • Billy Kincaid

It is clearly a money issue for Raekwon.

Meth is on 9 tracks because he doesn’t have money problems, and he feels obligated to the team who birthed his career.

Rae wants the current hot producers, but can’t afford them himself. They wouldn’t even answer his phone calls. He did this same coulda-shoulda-woulda bullshit when Jay’s album came out some time back.

    • marty mcfly

Rae wants what he’s worth in terms of his market value and thats understandable imo. People just feel like Rae should do shit for free or do shit for nothing cause they say so and I can feel where Rae is coming from after 20 years in the game. Its like no son, gimme what my value brings to the table. I’m sure if RZA could find a way to do that then cool but its just a different game now. You make a album and fools dont even say thank you, let alone pay you for it.

With verse Rae did for Heaven on MCHG, Jay was waiting for Ghost to finish his verse but Rae did his but for whatever reason. Jay just kept it by himself.

    • marty mcfly

      with THE verse Rae did…
