It's dope and don't even start trying to compare to previous TDE releases tho, that's a fucked up attitude towards music

    • john

Best songs Nevermind That, Kendricks Interlude, Sapiosexual, Stigmata,>>>>> ****Ride Slow**** <<<<<

  • Hiero

This album is trash, but you already know the internet'll dickride it anyway just because it's TDE. There's been way better albums that dropped this year but won't get recognition because they're not as popular. Damn shame.

    • jdzz

How's that low IQ going for you?

      • Hiero

        Angry TDE Stan confirmed.

        • Dat nigga

          Lmao

Seriously suck a dick you jaded asshole
          .

        • jdzz

          No, not at all.
I'm just amazed that someone can make such large and stupid generalizations.

    • Sticky

How is this album trash? Your opinion is meaningless if you don't back it up with something

      • Hiero

Bad hooks, bad beats, bad features. Ab-Soul has been corny since after Control System.

        • Dat nigga

Thank, you. If you ask me he try too hard to be jay, or nas, or lupe, w.e the trendy flow is while trying make himself sound like a 90s rapper, in 2014. Just bad all around if you ask me. Where's the a&r's? Schoolboy q? Smh dame shame.

        • Sticky

Every beat, feature and hook was bad? I agree there were some weaker parts, particularly towards the beginning but are you really trying to say every single one was bad? ab-soul is at his best on this project, control system was dope but the peaks on that we're not as high as this IMO. Why is it that whenever an artist gets some shine, people want to tear him down? This album is without a doubt atleast his second best album yet I didn't see any hate towards long term mentality when that came out. Y'all like to talk about TDE dick riders but what people should really be talking about is the recent "any TDE album that isn't gold is trash" fan that popped up after gkmc, either you're a shitty fan who turns on his artist once they're no longer underground or you never really listened to soul because this is exactly the type of album I expected from him

          • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Thank you, niggas actually acted like Soul was a straight laced MC. He is more similar to Underachievers than some Superman MC like Common LOL! TDE hate is too strong nowadays, and for what most of the shit I see people bandwagoning is uninspiring stuck in the 90's bullshit.

        • three

          u mad bro?

        • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Most of what you said also applies a bit to CS. I remember how when it first came out people called it trash. Now niggas are acting like that is his best release. I do agree with one thing, and that the content is not on that level, however the production to me is better for the most part, and it was more conceptual than CS.

His album literally reflected what is going on these days, it seems some niggas missed it, because they are trying to be as bad of a reviewer as Anthony Fantano LOL!

          • Dat nigga

How about coming up with your own ideas and actually be an artist. Instead of comparing yourself to Jesus and doing your best impression of what's hot "these days."

          • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

No how about some people stop dick riding the Jesus offended bandwagon, and actual listen to the music, then most people would see that this was an executed concept album, with the title making some relevance.

Who gives a fuck about what he dressed up as, it is symbolic to his album. Most the shit in the bible is myth and fairy tales, talking about "sort of real history" anyway. If Blacks actually studied they're history, they would see most of this shit applies to them.

        • yMs

and that IQ just continues to drop

lol These TDE dickriders are gonna attack you with tears on their keyboards for this comment

      • Johnny Boy

Coming from a J. Cole fan. The most boring, and most uninteresting rapper in the mainstream.

        • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

The loser at the top is a J.cole fan LOL! The production he provided for this album sucks hahaha!!

          • http://iamTrillOReilly.net/ Trill O’Reilly

Well I can see why Cole would give Ab-Soul a weak beat because this album was weak as fuck, but you're a TDE dickrider so you probably think this is the greatest album to ever drop since Oxymoron LMFAOOOOOO

Oh yeah, address me directly next time & stop being a fuck boy like Johnny Boy.

          • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

You are not worth adressing LOL!!!! You are all over TDE's dick with this hating bullshit, a Lil B fan like you're trolling ass should be quiet what a Fuck nut.

    • Pizza Steve

      A. Any fan who is a real fan of their favorite artist will defend them. Sad that you can't support an artist without being called a dickrider. *FYI this is for people who're probably gonna respond to your comment with childish name calling "dickriding & etc" towards the people who actually LIKE this album. Fucked up generation

      B. I agree, there are better albums that came out this year.

      C. This album is not trash, although this is YOUR opinion, that's a unnecessary radical claim. Definitely could of been better but its not wack.

      • Cpr196

No, it's pretty fucking wack, lol.

        • Johnny Boy

          *In your opinion.

        • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Better than many releases this year, it was not his best work but not trash. Niggas over-exaggerate too much, this is listenable. If you thought this was that bad then you would hate CS, because drugs and cheesy lyrics were on that album too. Most people commenting are nothing but over-exaggerating TDE haters, who dickride a group they hate LOL!

    • Cpr196

Ab-Soul is way too talented to release some garbage like this, smh.

    • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

      name the albums.. I'm interested

      • biff tannen

        Skyzoo and torae
        Dag savage
        Pharoahe monch
        Asher roth

All of these people have way better albums out this year.

        • yMs

no...just no...their just "ok" in my opinion as well

          • biff tannen

            Wow. Smh

Eh to each his own. *shrug*

      • Hiero

Step Brothers - Lord Steppington, Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata, Skyzoo & Torae - Barrel Brothers, Nino Bless - ROAM 3, Slaughterhouse - House Rules, Willie the Kid & Bronze Nazareth - The Living Daylights. inb4 "I don't know any of these people and they're not relevant so therefore our lyrical Godly messiah Ab-Soul's album is way better by default."

        • Johnny Boy

          Step Brothers is dope.

Piñata is overrated. Love Madlib tho.

          Barrel Brothers is good.

Slaughterhouse...ehh. Will see with their other upcoming album this year. Cuz Welcome To Our House was fuckin' trash.

          • realtalk82

but the mixtape was sick as fuck!!!! Listen to "I aint Bullshittin" and "Illmind Interlude" so dope

          • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

cool give Rated Oakland a listen by GQ.. That whole album is dope.

        • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Lord steppington was a fucking snooze fest, Freddie and Madlib is good, Slaughter was meh, Willie the kid and Bronze was straight. Not a fan of Skyzoo pretty average like this album.

You have an okay list with some great releases, but for the most some of these other artist are average or mediocre.

          • Hiero

Lol @Skyzoo being average. He's the best lyricist out right now next to Crooked I and Elzhi. I think you need to listen to Barrel Brothers in full if you haven't.

          • yMs

Crooked I? Skyzoo? On eLZhi level? no...just NO lol in my opinion

          • Hiero

And Nino Bless is also far from average. Listen to ROAM 2 and 3 for proof.

          • realtalk82

We all got opinions but Barrell Brothers was sick front to back and Lord Steppington was fire.

          • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Lord Steppington was a basic release from the two, the formula was very average compared to both of their older albums. The production was somewhat lackluster and lets remember why we like Alc on beats, not rapping LOL! Hipsters will praise it, because of name only, it was an okay project very average.

      • Isaac.

SHYNE Coldchain Vol. 2 best release this year.

    • Johnny Boy

      Like which ones?

      Besides Piñata.

      • Hiero

        See my post above.

    • LOL

what "way better albums" i wonder?

      • Hiero

        See post above.

  • http://iamTrillOReilly.net/ Trill O’Reilly

Imma cop the bootleg, but judging by the leaked tracks this will be just as unimpressive as Oxymoron

  • daganjatribe

holy shit, way better than i expected

  • Ohms

I'll wait for it to be on spotify

    • GENIUS IDTENT

      ...word

  • Pizza Steve

This album bangs. Not perfect but not wack. You niggas don't like NOTHING do you? lol

  • Boomer

Doesn't seem like a Ab Soul album to me. No conspiracy talk, I'm wit it!

  • Boris

I just finished listening. I give it a 7/10. Could have been better by just taking some songs off such as "Twact" but these days people like songs like that..lol. Some tracks are 2 in 1, which are some hidden gems. The track with Rick Ross is DOPE! (surprisingly to some) could easily be a single. Yes i bought it. "Soul Eatin" - Puff Daddy

*Control System still wins. My opinion.

  • biff tannen

Shits extremely average and unimpressive. His mixtapes are better.

    • Sticky

      Lol stfu

      • biff tannen

You're mad at the truth, not me. I forgive you

        • Sticky

If this was dropped as a mixtape instead of long term 2, he would have had Kendrick's amount of hype. Long term 2 was dope but the expectations for mixtapes vs albums are very different. When long term 2 came out that was the first most people were hearing of soul, there was nothing to compare it to, making it much easier to enjoy the dopeness and ignore the weaker spots. On the other hand this is the dudes third album and the pretty much everyone who has heard this has something to compare it to and were expecting an improvement upon control system which is a very difficult thing to do. I'm not saying this album is perfect, it's like a 7-7.5/10 for me right now and is better and more interesting than most other music that's coming out

          • biff tannen

So let me get this straight, you're saying: 1.expecting growth is too much to ask for.
2.we should only focus on what's dope and ignore what's wack

Is this really your argument for this album?

          • Sticky

No not at all, all I'm saying is no artist has ever made increasingly good music forever so having that as an expectation is unrealistic. Yeah so far I like control system more than this but that doesn't make this trash nor does it mean I should dismiss the work entirely. Yes you should expect some growth and IMO there was a lot of growth, it just didn't necessarily translate into an improvement in music. Example, outkast grew as artists throughout their careers but most people don't list their last album as their best. And I'm not saying ignore what's wack, I'm just saying don't forget what's dope because of the wackness

          • biff tannen

I never said the album was trash, I said it was average and unimpressive. Which you seem to agree with by your own comments of the album.

How do you know there was growth if it didn't translate into good music? That shit makes zero sense.

Your comparison with Outkast does not apply because although their last album may not be "considered their best", it was still a very dope album. This is not.

What's dope makes what's wack stand out even more. An album should be looked at as a complete project. Both things must be taken into consideration when assessing it. Imo the wack out weighs what's dope on this album.

        • yMs

I wouldn't say it's truth, that's just your preference and we are all entitled to our preference

    • McGlock

your opinion isn't the truth rofl. ego much.

      • biff tannen

        My opinion = fact

        • yMs

          o·pin·ion

          noun: opinion; plural noun: opinions
a view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

          • biff tannen

"Not necessarily based on" does not rule out whether it's based on fact or not.

If you're gonna take things so literally on the intewebz, I suggest you read whatever you're copying and pasting as a rebuttal a bit more carefully. Or at least understand it.

  • Sirilly

Ab-Soul dropped a solid release imo. I'm not going to front though, I am SLIGHTLY disappointed although I still enjoy it. I bet Anthony Fantano is going to give this joint a 5, 6, or a 7 if he's lucky. Soul is still my nigga though, overall I think it was 10 dollars well spent.

  • Boris

Also the battle rap at the end is interesting.

  • http://thatmorbidshit.tumblr.com/ FuckYouPayMe

Lemme preface this shit by saying:

I fuck with Soul; "Long Term" and "Longterm Mentality" houses some of the songs that I bump to this day. And if it weren't for GKMC, Control System would be the best rap album of 2012(don't argue with me on this shit)

    But this shit is garbage.

The second track on this shitheap got this shit:

"Me and she sittin' in a tree
    K.I.S.S.I.N.G
First comes love, then comes marriage
Fuck that! I'm just tryna get up in your panties"

And before you niggas type a dissertation about how them 2-4 bars tie in with song title, ask yourself this:

If the track hadn't been called "Tree of Life", would you had been cool with this niggafied version of a playground song?

    The answer's no(hopefully).

Because it's stupid - especially since this is a song(allegedly) about the conceptual idea of the "tree of life".

I could go on about how this whole jawn is littered with poopoo lines/bars("I heard they stopped making Actavis/You know when I heard that?/When they stopped making Actavis") or how that Ross feature is completely useless, or how this album feels like a collage of tracks that have no sense of cohesiveness - etc.

But I know the defense force is gon' be some shit like "YOU'RE NITPICKING; ROSS CAME CORRECT ON THAT TRACK; EVERY ALBUM ISN'T GOING TO BE GKMC - OH, YOU'RE COMPARING THIS TO CONTROL SYSTEM? WHY WOULD YOU COMPARE HIS OLD WORK TO HIS NEW SHIT - THAT'S STUPID."

And all I got to say that is:
The last track is 23 minutes.

Again, the last track. is 23 minutes.

    This shit is a 4/10.

    Don't dicksaddle mediocre releases.

    • http://thatmorbidshit.tumblr.com/ FuckYouPayMe

And before you niggas say "SOUL TOO SMART FOR YOU CLEARLY YOU FUCKIN' PHILISTINE CAUSE THE SONG IS 23 MINUTES CAUSE OF THE JORDAN/23 PARALLEL HE MADE IN THE FREESTYLE"

      No.

      Just no.

I don't even understand why every track had these useless, drawn out outros with him bullshitting. They serve no purpose. It was like he was blatantly trying to pad out the album to reach a certain time length.

      • http://thatmorbidshit.tumblr.com/ FuckYouPayMe

AND ANOTHER THING CAUSE FUCK THIS SHIT
For an album that's supposed to be "not too philosophical"(his words, not mine: http://www.hiphopdx.com/index/editorials/id.2447/title.6-things-we-learned-from-ab-soul-s-these-days-listening-session) the production on this shit was NOT thumpin'. This shit's very bland. Control System had much, MUCH better production - shut the fuck up; I'm not comparing this entire project to Control System so stop typing about how I am.

  • Cpr196

I'd like to see one Soul fan come up with one song on this album they're actually gonna be bumping after... fuck it, one song they actually like, beats, verse, everything. Soul is way out of it in this one, trying to be something he's not, the beats don't fit him, the verses don't fit the beats, sorry Soulo fans.

    • David Vibin Millz

ride slow, world runners, stigmata, just have fun, and the kendrick lamar interlude, for sure

    • Jamar Hill

these days(2nd half of just have fun), gods reign(great opener), closure(favorite song on tape due to how personal it is),hunnid stax(best for the whip, beat soul and q mesh well, even mac on the hook), kendrick lamars interlude(nuff said Soul and Dot), stigmata, ride slow, feelin us.....I dont like every Ab song , but this shit is a easy 7/10 to an 8 . But everyone saying this is wack is buggin because if your not a fan of soul then your not gonna like this. Ab Soul style is so distinct from everyone else purposefully so you cant paint how good this album with the same brush you do all others. Because saying that undermines artistry and creativity in and of itself. His beats and verses typically have purpose and dont follow typical formulas.

      • http://newslavez.tumblr.com 3rdeye2hgh

Man...This album is not good..Not Bad I give him 6.5/10.it's just a different Ab-Soul.His Album stick with the title...HipHop of these days...Tree of life=early 90's beat,..Twact=The trend right now type of beat...K-Dot=On some Jazz Shit type of beat...first part of "just have fun" hipsters type of beat...I mean just a name a few.
When it comes to lyrics...I'm very disappointed...De la merde=Shitty.Ab it's better than that...I mean a few songs got some punchlines content but...wack!!!
"Nevermind,Dub-Sac(the second song on it=CEO punch Flow?),Twact,Just Have fun,K-Dot Interlude=(Javonte iz back on his work wit TDE I hope he will get signed.)He was the same type of beat on section 80 but solo was rappin',feelin' Us and WE REALLY OUT HERE MY NIGGA wit JMSN!!!

  • Joe Dirt

I find myself trying too damn hard too like this. There are some "ok" tracks, and some wack ones. twact is fucking terrible. Overall this is just really average. I expected better. 6/10

    • datbul

  • Selorm Amuzu

really been following soul, but I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this project...maybe it'll grow on me. Ends on a very strong note tho, W.R.O.H. wuz dope.

  • Oza147

I swear most of you are a bunch of Hipster faggots, once an artist or album is "mainstream" you stop listening. Album is okay, not trash though. & for those hating TDE, a big FUCK YOU to you. No I'm no Stan I listen to everything but give credit where it's due, i remember being at paid dues a few years back watching kendrick while Q was being a hype man, and the stage wasn't even half full. These dudes came up, from bottom to the top, working hard putting out DOPE music from GKMC, section 80, OD, Longterm, habits, setbacks, follow me home, KL EP, control system. So don't say these dudes are wack when they're putting out better music than your favorite rappers, plus they brought the coast back. The coast hasn't been this dope since PAC, death row and dr dre, or the game I guess you can say

    • Bil AL

Rappers set the bar high for themselves by putting out better mixtapes than albums. no need to get angry and this is not mainstream.

after 2,3 spins i gotta say I thought I would like it a lot more the weeks before the release. but thats no reason to call it wack. imma sit with this for a while and see how it plays out and how much replay value it has before judging what this album really is.

    kendricks interlude tho >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

  • Fuck All Y’all

At the end of the day y'all opinions don't mean shit lol .. Those who like it will still like it, those who don't will continue to try and convince people that it's not dope. Now in my opinion this album is pretty average BUT I can see why certain songs were added and why he took that approach. Either way me and Soul from the same city and I'll continue to support him just like I support Roccett and Bishop Lamont, it is what it is.

    • Johnny Boy

      Bishop is underrated.

  • xastey

Highly disappointed in this one. There are some gems on this one but as a whole its lacking something. Maybe its just the vibe of this, its hard to not compare it with CS, on that tape we saw that he was hungry, now with this one it sound like he's a bit more relaxed. And before everyone gets their panties in a bunch this is from what you guys call a TDE "stan". I've only gave it one listen so far so there is room for change but my first impressions are not the same as I heard CS for the first time.

Its a good listen, nothing crazy.

  • Henny and Weed

"TDE Dickriders" vs bandwagon TDE haters

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

its okay.. not terrible but its not what i wanted it to be.. Twact and especially sapiosexual should not be on the album..

  • Johnny Boy

    These Days... > Oxymoron

  • Lorant Mena

Not Perfect the Dope Tracks are Tree Of Life, Closure, Sapiosexual, Stigmata, World Runners, K. Dots Track, God's Reign, W.R.O.H., Ride Slow thats about it.. Too many pill poppin references for my liking but maybe I just wanted Control System Part 2

  • RAPNERD

Everyone's a critic. Most have only sat with the album for not even a day and already have a verdict. I need at least a month to really listen to a album. Plus most of you are comparing it to previous TDE albums.

    • RAPNERD

*** AB SOUL ALWAYS GETS THE BEST PRODUCTION, THEN Q

      • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

I immediately noticed that the production was a bit superior on this album, after listening to it. I spun this album 4 times, and so far it is a great release. I have no idea where the nay sayers are coming from LOL!

  • realness29

Very average, not bad though. Im guessing these TDE guys really have Ab by the balls or he would have not have scrapped the mixtape with JMSN about a year or 2 ago and he wouldnt have let something this weak out...im not sure what direction they are trying to go with the guy but as soon as i saw the cover i got worried, guess I had a good reason to worry

  • Johnny Boy

I don't know why people are saying this is garbage, or trash. I listened to it for the second time right now, and the thing grew on me with the second listen. I honestly think this is even better than Control System.

The only song on here that I haven't feeled is ''Twact''. That shit is trash. Sounds like a throwaway DJ Mustard beat that should of had Tyga, and Kid Ink on it.

Other than that pretty solid project.

    • http://iamTrillOReilly.net/ Trill O’Reilly

Of course you'd say that, you're the biggest TDE dickrider as well as WSHH's #1 fuck boy

      • Johnny Boy

Of course you would say that, you're the biggest TDE hater that always dick rides all those trash Southern rappers like wack J. Cole.

  • AlienGod

Album is very disappointing. I keep saying it TDE should of stayed indie. TDE going major affected the artistic integrity of everyone aside the newcomers (but at this rate even them are going to become affected by it at some point}. Even Schoolboy Q came out and said that he wished TDE would of stayed indie. You can tell that this was Ab-Souls attempt to make a commercially viable album but it just doesn't work with the type of artist he is. This album doesn't have nowhere near the same level of substance and depth that Control System had. Ab Soul went from talking about DMT and Pineal glands to talking about fucking bitches and getting money WTF??. Aside from a couple songs this album is horrible. Fuck You Interscope for ruining TDE.

    • seb

Calm down, Soulo ain't even signed to a major...Do your research

      • AlienGod

Soulo doesn't have to be signed to a major for him to be affected . If the rest of your crew are on major labels then naturally you could be affected aswell. The only reason why Ab Soul is not signed to Interscope is because Interscope is not going to sign Ab Soul for him to do music like he did on Control System. It is not commercial music. Hence this is why he did this commercially viable album ''to test the waters'' per se but it just doesn't work for him at all.

        • AlienGod

This is why I can stand major labels. The moment you sign to a major label you have to sacrifice your artistic integrity by default because instead of you doing music for a certain demographic now you have to make music that EVERYONE has to like. I'm tired of seeing all these crazy hip hop independent movements and artist just throw it all away just to have mainstream appeal and make more money. Major labels just ruins shit. It happened to Wiz Khalifa/Taylor Gang, It happened to ASAP and now it happened to TDE. FUCK YOU MAJOR LABELS YOU CAN ALL EAT A DICK.

          • Cam TexasBoy Perry

I actually thought ASAP's album was dope but he is bullshitting on dropping new music

          • AlienGod

ASAP's album was good but I still believe the mixtape was much better

          • Cam TexasBoy Perry

            you're right.

          • marty mcfly

The major labels didnt write this album. Soul did. So anything musical on it, Soul is responsible for. If you gonna be mad at anybody it should be Ab Soul. Major labels weren't rapping on this album, Soul was.

          • AlienGod

That I agree with you 100%. All im saying is that the moment TDE decided to fuck with Interscope the quality of their music as whole as been declining for the most part.

          • marty mcfly

They had to fuck with Interscope though. Unless they wanna not really have an impact on the culture. TDE wasn't running the rap game as an independent label. I know their fans like to believe that but that wasn't the case. Without Interscope, at some point TDE woulda most likely folded. How many independent labels last through the years and compete with the major releases in Hip Hop? 1% outta all the independent labels, if that. You think GKMC would been what it was with no Dr Dre and hardly any radio or Tv promo for the year before it came out? It woulda been a good indie release but it wouldn't move a foot on the commercial side of hip hop culture and instead of being a platinum album that some believe is a classic... It woulda been some shit that sold a little bit of units that hardly anybody really gives a fuck about. GKMC woulda been what Pilot Talk 2 was for Curren$y. A good album that didnt really crack anywhere in mainstream Hip Hop.

          • AlienGod

Saying the TDE would have folded or not have any impact on hip hop culture if they wouldn't have fuck with Interscope is nonsense seeing how most of the buzz they created for themselves was when they was independent.

          • marty mcfly

Its not nonsense. Its just that you think having buzz somehow equals successful album performance in the market. When 99.9% of the time that is not the case at all.

          • AlienGod

TDE was already a successful independent label if not one of the most successful independent labels in hip hop out side of Strange Music before they even signed to Interscope.

          • marty mcfly

That depends on your opinion of what success is? In comparison TDE to Strange Music is comparing a new born puppy to a full grown lion and that includes the difference in money and fans. Tech Nines fanbase is about 5 times bigger then Kendrick, the reason it doesn't seem that way is because Tech is independent.

          • marty mcfly

Hold up, I take that back. Tech probably only has just a little bit more fans then Kendrick at this point but one reason why Kendrick was able to sell in one year what Tech takes more then a decade to sell is because Kendrick has a machine in place that promotes his music to a mainstream audience. Tech does not. Even Section 80 showed on all the major platforms of Hip Hop. Tech N9ne could drop a album and it wont see any radio or Tv promo and may get one post on the blogs for a day and thats it.

          • marty mcfly

Before they singed with Interscope TDE was not one of the most successful labels in hip hop. I think your looking at hype and not actual numbers and product performance.

          • Guest

Major Labels wouldn't buy this shit for free.

          • marty mcfly

Yeah and TDE wouldn't work with the majors if they didnt bring anything to the table.

          • seb

I don't see how is it possible to drop a track 23 minutes long about battling ... when you're sign in a major. No offense. Except Ross, I do not see many big names. As far as the productions are concerned, checked the credits, it's quietly a TDE album. Blame it on the good one...

    • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

That is your opinion, there are very lyrically exciting moments on this album. I like it. Another thing you have to realize is that Soul is not signed to a major label. This does not sound like some mainstream album you will hear on the radio LOL! I know, because I listen to mainstream Rap as well, but the saying about opinions are true, and this was a great change and reflected the space, time and area in life where he is at. This album was very conceptual, that is why I understand whereas others are just bandwagoning off of popular opinion.

  • Anonymous

Yo I aint complianing I fuck with this album lol leave it to the salty listeners to hate on a TDE album each time one drops yall hilarious. This gets play idgaf!

  • Drew

This album literally came out a couple hours ago and y'all have a full synopsis of it lol Sit with the music g He did an album about "These Days" down to the beats to the generic subject matter but that's just what I got from it Gotta give an album time

  • SJB

Real talk: I'm a huge fan of 'control system' and 'long term 2'. Bought this album this morning and have spun it twice today and gosh darn it, it's pure rubbish - lyrically that is. The reviews are right, it really is weak. It doesn't sound like a comprehensive album in the same vain his previous albums were. Shame for us, shame for him.

  • soulonice_

After my first listen its decent. Will have other opinions after a couple more listens.

  • Freshsup

Coming from a huge Soulo fan since LT1, this definitely isn't his best work. It's not bad by any means, just hit and miss. I'd give it a B- / C+ range, Hunnid Stax and Dub Sac were weak and I got uninterested quickly, Twact is not for me either. The rest of the album will get replay from me.

    • Cam TexasBoy Perry

yea that's pretty much how I feel. I even thought Schoolboy Q's album was a little weak.

      • Yeezus

Q was better than this and Isaiah was better than that.

        • Freshsup

These Days is better than Oxy but Cilvia takes the early TDE cake. Thy still running this shit.

  • Motion Fiction Media

Are there hard copies of this anywhere?

  • Adrian Hernandez

It's ridiclous that their isn't a physical copy that I can go buy at Best Buy or even Target......

  • McGlock

TDE the shit... thanks to all you haters. - Jay Rock.
some of these comments are cringe worthy. haters trying way too hard.

  • soulonice_

Now I know why he dropped Stigmata first. It sounds more like his past records than any other record on the album and he didn't want to scare his fans off. He went in a different direction with this album, I doubt any of his knew it would sound like this as a whole. To be honest I'm disappointed, its not bad its decent, but if you say this exceeded your expectations ima think you lying

  • soulonice_

Danny Brown might of had the best verse on the whole album

  • deeznuts

Waited to 2 years for this??? This can't be life..

  • realtalk82

I can see why die hard fans are disappointed in this. I like Soul but this is not a classic. Remove "Twact" "Hunnid Stax" "Dub Sac" and we might have a better than good album here.

And I know not every album has to be a classic. The hype was just real on this one.

  • MusicHead

Y'all want Control System 2 ass niggas smh..y'all want him to rap conspiracy theories every day smh..look this album dope & for y'all to have this full synopsis this early don't make no damn sense..let the album sit first then judge.

  • kyle newsferd

I ain't gon say it's trash or nothing but I got one word. Underwhelming

  • Troy Terry

the only knock y'all have on the abum is that Ab is from TDE which is stupid as fuck

    • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Agreed if this came from anybody else they would eat it up. Niggas was quiet when Em bought that trash album out last year.

  • Design Mongrel

Disappointed. Not enough tracks for me to keep the whole album together on my phone.

  • dizzlethechef .

Niggas was saying this album was gonna suck, but it's really dope. How you feel now? Soulo runnin it.

    • http://iamTrillOReilly.net/ Trill O’Reilly

This album was weak nigga, sit TF down _

      • dizzlethechef .

No your IQ test score was weak nigga you sit tf down. Go listen to some migos.

      • One

Shit been out 1 day and yall talkin bout "was weak".

Smh. ..yall new niggas amaze me

  • http://iamTrillOReilly.net/ Trill O’Reilly

If another mainstream rapper like Meek Mill, Big K.R.I.T., Wale, or even Rick Ross put out a weak album 2DBZ wouldn't make excuses, but since a TDE member put out a weak album y'all wanna make excuses like "you gotta listen to it more than once" or "it's too early to tell..." FOH! Just admit it people, Ab-Soul made y'all niggas wait 2 years for a group of throwaway songs and you're not happy with it. Shxt, being honest when these artists put out lackluster music is the only way they'll start putting out better music.

    • Johnny Boy

All the niggas you named are weak except Big K.R.I.T.

No reason to even stick up for those garbage niggas.

    • shovel

K.R.I.T. is far from mainstream you could have picked another rapper for sure and his projects are always solid

  • Design Mongrel

Too many excuses for an artist. Either you like it or you don't, this whole "listen to it a few more times" or "give it some time" shit isn't really for everyone.

Not his best work, plain and simple. It's obvious he was catering to a different group of fans on this. For THIS type of hip-hop, I'd rather listen to House Rules, bang it in my whip type music. Usually go to Ab's music for some deeper lyricism but it was a miss for me.

Definitely did not live up to the hype.

  • Joe Grasse

Can someone tell me if im crazy or not?
So i believe These Days... is just a parody on the rap game as of recent... and this sorta "sacrificed the sins" of rap (only way the album cover makes sense to me) and his next album will be his best effort as him coming back (like jesus)

    • biff tannen

      Yea........you're crazy.

    • aharon ellis

Thats an interesting take on the album. But its bit of a reach because he never explained that as his intent for the album.

      • Joe Grasse

Well I guess I was right, to an extent.. Well see

  • aharon ellis

Huge Ab-Soul fan, however, this album was average at best. Felt like it lacked the aggressive edge displayed in Control System, and more importantly it lacked the "substance" we appreciate from an artist like Ab-Soul. Two years ago Ab-Soul exposed Bohemian Grove, made Terrorist Threats, plotted A Rebellion, gave us the Book of Soul, and illuminated the game. I can't say the same for this album, but I guess thats how it is These Days. Either way, support the artist, and buy his DAMN album!

  • mel

I think this album is better than what people are saying and i understand why. Tracks 2 to 5 and twact throw it off so early in the album its hard to get into it. The rest of the songs are solid. Personal Favs are Just Have Fun and WROH

  • Guest

Soul admitted himself that the concept of the album is "These Days" he said it was meant to mock the mainstream style of "These Days", hence the commercial approach to the project.
