Meek Mill Arrested For Probation Violation

blame it on Meka July 12, 2014

In what will undoubtedly slow down the momentum for his upcoming album Dreams Worth More Than Money, Meek was sent to jail yesterday for violating a myriad of parole rules, such as posing in pictures while holding a gun, doing shows and concerts that were not pre-approved and changing his phone number without notifying the proper authorities. According to TMZ – aka the bastion of all things hip hop – Meek is slated to spend between three to six months locked up, while other conflicting reports suggest that he could be out in as little as three to four weeks. Whatever the case is, this isn’t good for his career at the moment as – if the longer sentence holds up – it will take him right through his album’s scheduled release of September 9th. Ouch.

UPDATE: Rick Ross issued a statement about Meek’s arrest today, to MTV

I created MMG years ago, my desire was to create a space where the most talented artists in the world could be nurtured and supported. With that came a commitment. I vowed to support these artist, through the good and the bad. Every individual signed to MMG is not just an artist, they are my family. And with family you ride, or you die. Yesterday, my brother, Meek Mill ran into some unfortunate legal issues. It happens. However, his team, our team, will continue to execute Meek’s plan as close to schedule as possible. His album is coming. We ask that the fans and the media continue to support him and his music during this time. He’ll be home soon. ‘Dreams Are Worth More Than Money,’ and family is worth more than Everything. MMG FOR LIFE.

He was feeling himself way to much, he needed a reality check.

Remember when people were put in jail over crimes they didn’t commit or were in jail for standing up for what they believe in? That’s when people should be saying “free _______”.Why the fuck is 2bdz promoting this? There should be no “free meek mill” campaign. Meek mill is a straight up cornball.

    • who cares

Word. People who start those “Free ____” campaigns for people who willingly do illegal shit annoy the fuck out of me.

    • Dante

What did he do wrong? Did you do any research before making such a dumb comment? Anywhere you look, the underlining fact is that he got locked up for suspicion and twitter comments lol. He never failed a drug test and the guns he’s talking about where all props for his last two videos…smh

I’ve never heard of a parole violation serving being 6-8 months…When you break parole on an unfinished sentence, they usually make you serve the remainder of your time. When you break parole several times in a six month period, (not just missing checkins or being late but several gun/drug pops) they make you serve the remainder of your time in prison.

    • Justin Blantey

THIS should be the “featured” comment! Exactly what I was thinking. The people who should be freed ain’t freed because the term “Free John Doe” has been overused!

  • Deejhay Daz-One

ARE YOU SERIOUS this idiot violated his parole with a gun and drug charge. He begged and pleaded with the judge to not send him to prison so he can continue to provide for his family (which I applaud) BUT he also has had 2 years of parole violations. He’s doing 3 to 6 months (and he’s lucky its not more). Maybe this will teach his dumb ass a lesson that no matter who you are, you violate parole YOU GO TO JAIL.

I love when rappers release “statements” that didn’t come even close to sounding like them.
