Back in 2008, Madonna dropped the Justin Timberlake-esque project, Hard Candy which featured heavy production from the likes of Timbaland, Pharrell/The Neptunes and Danja. Mainly inspired by JT’s FutureSex/LoveSounds, the album featured a more up-tempo, urban R&B atmosphere.
It’s reported that Madonna, who recorded over The Neptunes produced “The Beat Is So Crazy”, sold the beat to Eve. The new version was supposed to land on Eve’s 2007 Here I Am album, however that entire project ended up being scrapped.
What we have today is a duet of sorts, with Eve on singing duties alongside Madonna.
