Moments after dropping his new single “i,” K. Dot stopped by Power 106’s Big Boy’s Neighborhood this morning. In this brief clip he speaks on his relationships with J. Cole and Drake post-“Control.”

What isn’t shown in this video is Kendrick speaking on the long-in-the-works project with J. Cole, delving into the sophomore album, and much more, but Power 106′ Rikki Martinez tweeted some of what he said…

It’s been five years since we’ve heard about the collab album. Sad that we have to wait even longer, but I’m sure it’ll be worth the wait.

Am I the only one who doesn’t want a joint album with cole? It’s just really uninteresting to me. I’d rather get more solo work from both.

If “Warm-Up” Cole and “OD” Kendrick made the album, I feel like that would have been the best product. I feel like they might have grown too far apart as artists to give us something that would match that. Similar to Child Rebel Soldier.

Would love to be proven wrong though.

I feel you on that. That time has passed. It was really exciting when they brought up the idea a few years ago. But now so much has changed with they career and the way they make music. It just wouldn’t make sense no more. I’d rather see a Black Hippy project.

    • I’m on the fence about that too smh

    • JME

They could just release the ones they have so far in a Mini EP

  • JEM

    Happy that Kendrick is back.

i think the idea of joint projects are more of a THING rather than the actual project itself. I’m still waitin on Rick Ross/Drake “Yolo” as well as the Chance & Childish Gambino joint. While I’m not sure if hearing a Cole/Kendrick joint album would be all that great, I do think a project by Kendrick entirely produced by Cole would be cool, sorta like the HiiiPower track that started all of the hype.
