Fifteen years ago to the day, Dark Man X released his third solo album, …And Then There Was X, & while not as acclaimed as it’s predecessors It’s Dark and Hell Is Hot or Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood, it was still a pretty well-rounded LP.

Remove some of the filler “party” tracks like “Party Up (Up in Here)” and the atrocious (my opinion) “What These Bitches Want” and the album would have been almost near perfect.

I’ve included a couple of my favorite cuts off the album, including the Dame Grease-produced “Fame” and “The Professional” with P. Killer Trackz on the boards.

DMX is one of the GOAT for sure, but Party Up is his worst song without a doubt

I’ve always loved DMX & Cam’ron – Pull It. It’s what got me into both of them, I bought everything they both came out with for years and years before I found “Pull It” online in mp3 format. I think it was on some soundtrack:

    Party up is FILLER???

  • who cares

I’ll give you “What These Bitches Want,” but “Party Up”… Wait, now that I think about it, the song did kind of seem out of place on the album. I still fuck with it because of the mood it puts you in, but I can see why some people don’t. Anyway, “Fame” and “The Professional” were always favorites of mine as well.

The last DMX album in my opinion.

Bringing me back on this one. These two tracks are bangers but my favorites were D-X-L and comin for ya. Unfortunately I feel like this was X’s last great album. The Great Depression pretty much sums up X’s career after this album
