Watch A 44-Minute Fan Made Visual Companion For J Dilla’s ‘Donuts’

#DillaWeekend – this time being held in sunny Miami – is quickly approaching. A few die-hard fans have risen to the occasion before the arrival of Dilla Month in February, creating an epic 45 minute visual amalgamation of performance clips, random imagery and the sounds of J Dilla’s classic Donuts album.

I can’t even fathom how long it took these guys/this guy to painstakingly dig for each clip and edit it down to what we see now. I commend them on a job well done. There are some insanely rare clips, including Dionne Warwick performing “You’re Gonna Need Me” which was used for “Stop!”, Eddie Kendrick’s “People…Hold On”, 10cc’s “Worst Band In the World” and more.

Check out the entire, David Lynch-esque, surreal clip above. Peace to OKP.

Also, for my fellow diggin-in-the-crates heads, if you’re looking for a catalog of samples Dilla used for Donuts, you can cop them on 2xLP A Recipe For Tasty Donuts. I just picked up an extra copy the other day for $8. A deal steal!
