The “hussle” in Nipsey’s stage name is more than just a nom de guerre. The Crenshaw emcee epitomizes what it means to hustle. In 2013, Neighborhood Nip sold 1000 hardcopies of his Crenshaw mixtape at $100 a pop – taking on a punk-as-f*ck, DIY mindset.
At the top of the New Year, Nipsey announced yet another mixtape, Mailbox Money – this time selling limited edition hardcopies for a rack, that’s right, a thousand dollars each. Some thought it was a laughable game plan.
However, it looks as though Nip got the last laugh as he, according to XXL, has reportedly sold 60 copies of the project – despite giving it away as a free download.
