Shawn Carter is now looking to throw his hat into the rapidly-swelling music streaming ring. The new owner of Ace Of Spades recently put a $56 million bid on Swedish music streaming company Aspiro. According to the NY Times, JAY’s offer “has already received preliminary acceptance by Aspiro’s board.”
JAY’s purchase also means that he will acquire a pair of niche music services, WiMP and Tidal. Both WiMP and Tidal stream music in high-fidelity audio that are much higher in quality than what the likes of Spotify and Pandora offer.
I don’t know what to expect from the purchase, but then again I didn’t know what to expect from when he copped a piece of the Nets as well and that ultimately made him richer in the end. I’ll say it once, and I’ll say it again: man, I love being a turtle I’m in the wrong business.
