Freekey Zekey Details Dipset/JAY Z History

Dipset President & 730 Dips Records boss Freekey Zekey was a recent guest on ThisIs50. Sitting down with Jack Thriller, Zeke revealed how the Dipset transition from their former label to Roc-a-Fella transpired. He also explained how hard it was to get JAY Z to lay down a verse for Cam’ron’s third studio solo, Come Home With Me – basically demanding a hesitant Hov to record a verse. That, as we all know, would become the infamous “Welcome To New York City” single.

Later, he details that their other #1 single “Oh Boy” was originally intended for JAY Z, whom even recorded a verse for a remix. JAY’s verse, as we have come to find out, was ultimately deleted by request of Cam’ron. Zeke says the verse was deleted due to the tension that was already brewing between the two camps, however in the Diplomats sit-down with Miss Info, they explained the verse was scrapped due to JAY dissing Nas during the two’s riff in the early 2000s.

Look out for part 2 of his sit-down interview soon.
