Fans who follow Snoop D-O-double-G’s career closely know that the Long Beach legend’s filmography catalog is just as deep as his discography – even if most of the films he’s starred in or produced were B-level.

Now, Snoop has his business acumen set on producing a new series for HBO. According to the A.V. Club, Snoop – alongside director Allen Hughes (Gang Related*) – is developing a new family drama set in the 80s.

Although details remain scarce, it is reported that the show will take place in Los Angeles during the Reaganomics era, and will mix politics and community life in L.A. into the show. Rodney Barnes (Boondocks) is penciled in as one of the writers.

* Not sure why Gangland received such low ratings and was ultimately canceled. I personally thought the writing was fairly exceptional, and featured a great cast. D’oh well.
