Action Bronson’s ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Out Now

blame it on Meka March 23, 2015

2015 is already shaping up to a great year in rap music already. Big Sean nabbed his first number-one album in Dark Sky Paradise, Kanye West formally announced his impending return with “All Day,” Drake (no-so) surprised us with a new project, and Kendrick Lamar dropped his soon-to-be chart-topping new album To Pimp A Butterfly a week early.

Action Bronson, who’s been consistently dropping heat over the last several years, has been preparing fans for the release of his major-label debut with a myriad of singles (“Actin’ Crazy,” “Terry,” “Big League Chew,” “Easy Rider,” “Baby Blue“) and off-the-wall videos. Today, Bam Bam’s highly-anticipated new LP has arrived, boasting features and production by Statik Selektah, Alchemist, Party Supplies, Chance the Rapper, Mark Ronson, Oh No, Noah “40” Shebib, and many more.

It’s a horrible time for anyone to put out any projects. This should’ve been pushed back. Kendrick Lamar still has Hip Hop’s attention.

      grass is always greener!!!

        eat my ass

    • Pingerz

      eat my sodding grass

      • reachcloud9

Bruh you might not like the album and that’s fine, but don’t act like Kendrick doesn’t have the whole genres attention right now.

        • War

          Whole genre? Nawh.
He has the general public talking about his album.
There are many listeners, and participators of the genre than aren’t checking for Kendrick, but because of the silly amount of hate people receive for realising that Hip Hop is bigger than any one artist… they save their breath.

There will be far less listeners that are able to relate to Pimp a Butterfly than Good Kid, and thus get less continued rotation over time. It’s a solid album, and no one can deny it’s a great project, but it’s more a social, and political statement.

          • Preach.

          • malcyvelli

            That comment kinda contradicts itself.

          • War

Yeah, second part is my opinion so dude didnt think I was just hating.
But in regards to it having Everyone’s attention, it’s just not true.

          • reachcloud9

Because it’s a more social and political statement is exactly why it’ll get attention. I agree more people will relate to gkmc, but tpab is more divisive. Whether it’s love or hate, it’s still attention.

          • War

            You’re right.

        • Nope

        • Get his dick out your mouth, dude is mad overrated you’re just caught up in the hype.

          • reachcloud9

How old are you bruh, 13?

        • biff tannen

How do u know he has the genres attention? Lol

There’s a plenty of people that love the album and just as many that don’t and even more that haven’t even heard it. So just settle down buddy.

          • reachcloud9

The nigga broke the Spotify record bruh, so if even more haven’t heard it that just proves my point. My argument isn’t about whether the album is good or not, it’s about the fact that Bronson coud’ve had a better release if he pushed back one or two weeks. I’m not trying to pick sides, I want everybody to sell.

          • biff tannen

Can’t argue with that. The lesser known artists always lose when they share a release date with a major pop artist.

          • fuck spotify, gay as hell

        • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

Right people are looking like a bunch of blind haters right now. Where was this type of hatred when niggas declared MMLP2 a classic among rap albums?

          • War

Oh wow. I didn’t know people took MMLP2 that far!

        • scoggs

Just because Kendrick’s album is good doesn’t mean it has my ears locked from listening to other music. That’s fucking idiotic.

It’s a good album and everything but people are muttering classic because it lived up to the hype, not because it totally rewrote what hip hop albums should be.

          • reachcloud9

I don’t think the album is classic, nor did I say that your ears were glued to the album. My point is that Kendrick obviously has the rap world ablaze right now, just because it’s Kendrick and the album didn’t flop. You can’t honestly tell me that Bronson wouldn’t have benefitted from pushing the album a week or two?

          • scoggs

I think that Bronson fans would have supported Bronson regardless, he is doing things well and to me his charisma is something missing from hip hop right now and people are craving it. Nothing Kendrick can do can take away from that, but that’s just my opinion.

          • reachcloud9

I’m not taking anything away from Bronson or his fanbase. I’m just saying that tpab could’ve possibly overshadowed his release for others outside the fanbase.

          • Jere

Just this long discussion thread prooves tpab is overshadowing anything else hapening in hip-hop

      • The Truth✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

You must be butt hurt that Action didn’t deliver.

        • biff tannen

          Yes. That’s it. Good call.

    • ChrisRoman

Agreed. The bar has been lifted and set. RIP All Other 2015 Hip Hop Albums

      • The Truth✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

I wouldn’t go that far. Jesus, Allah and Buddha might drop that surprise double album produced by Trackmasters.

        • ChrisRoman

lol Isn’t that the album ghost written by Andre 3000 and includes a bonus disc of the Jay Electronica album that will never come out?

          • The Truth✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

It’s definitely coming out before Jay Elec’s album.

    • anon

nah bronson should have tried again with this one and i’m a stanny stan.

  • erik

    earl sweat and bronson dropped?…shiiiiiiiiiit

    • The Truth✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Earl let everyone down again and Action is also a let down…

      • erik

haven’t heard this album but I like what I’ve heard from earl’s album

        • The Truth✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Earl’s album sounds like music they use to torture terrorist in Guantanamo Bay

      • anon

they should have made bronson rap more on his album too much nonsense on there.

      • Jerel

That Earl riding. Reminds me of his first project.

  • One

Album is good…but not his best work. Was a little disappointed by the production. Lyrics and delivery on point as always with bam bam.

Too early to really to rank for me though. Kendrick album isnt giving me any room to really delve into any other projects at the moment…smh

Lemme check that earl sweatshirt though..

  • breezy

  • Llama

wish i didn’t listen to those singles beforehand.

Galatic Love is still my jam doe.

  • Leila305

This is dope as hell!!! Can’t wait to see Action in May!!! I’m glad this came out when it did, I don’t want to overkill Kendrick’s album (honestly its all I’ve been able to play when I hit iTunes). We all know Kendrick puts out quality stuff and takes his time with the music. If I’m going to be listening to TPAB for the next 2 to 3 years, then I am more than happy to listen to other people’s stuff as well!

  • Don

First Kendrick album, now Action Bronson and Earl…feel like I won the lottery or something.

  • espyy

I will say it “meh” Kinda dissapointed.

  • theTrvpHouseDOTcom

    worth the buy.

    • espyy

I listened mr wonderful and I didn’t like it too much. Would listen it again but.. meh. And I’m bam bam fan.

      • War

It’s a lot more…musically inclined. Sonically it’s some of his most mature work.
But I did feel that at points there was more producer time than Bronson vocals.
The singles were some of the stronger tracks, although it does have a couple of other great songs.
If the Source still did Mics, it would be a 3.

      • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

I thought the album was not good either. Compared to his older albums this one just has lackluster written all over it.

  • Vick Slate

    its a fun listen.

  • Music

I haven’t listened to Action’s Thug Love Story 2017 The Musical but Kool G Rap’s A Thug Love’s Story (Chapter I, II, III) is probably one of my favorite 3 part raps.

  • Will

Gonna listen to this and earls album today

  • only 4 tracks play for me

  • SonOfSAM

This is good album for the start of a new week. My favorite track might be “A Light In The Addict”.

  • Bambi

oh my god this shit is about to be fucking beautiful

  • disqus_xpmwx1oUV3

The album was bad, mediocre at best, nothing that will have a lasting impact.

    • Selorm Amuzu

Nahh the album was dope !!!!!! Everything I expected Action to do !!!

  • realtalk82

To me he’s been killin everything he’s been doing forever this album actually had most of the good records leaked already but still a good record. I’m loving Falconry and Terry still. But it is hard to listen to anything after Kdot’s album to honest.

  • realtalk82

Baby Blue is still that joint though

  • King Tyrone

There’s a lot of instrumentation on this album and it’s good. Album was a refreshing listen. ‘City Boy Blues’ is a pretty crazy track and he doesn’t even rap over it. Light in the Addict, Only in America, and Easy Rider are other standout tracks to me

  • Julian T. Wyllie

I picked up the physical a few days ago. I think the best song is Terry but I do appreciate that Bronson continues to rap over unconventional production.

  • padawan_killah

i like the album. its bronson how i will always remember him. slight gimmick, mostly authentic, entirely entertaining. he has curated his own sound here and i appreciate that. saw this coming two blue chips ago.

i dont think TPAB will hurt his sales. you were either going to support or not going to support. there is no use in comparing comedy to drama, and thats what action is to kendrick

  • imjustellinu

I like this album. I think it will grow on me and I also think the label prevented it from being what it could of been. If you check some of his recent interviews you can tell he seems weird when asked certain questions about the songs leaving me thinking he has a bunch of material recorded that he wanted on it but fufu label b/s stopped it. bring on blue chips 7 !

  • Guest

all the beats sound like somethin Cam should be on

  • How the fuck is anybody hatin’ on this album?

  • AdolfMayneRuffin

His album only cost 8.99 on amazon he might be only album I cop

  • jacobireland

Bests work since BlueChips 1 for sure.
