Russ – “Dr. Seuss”

As a child, I’m pretty sure I owned just about every Dr. Seuss book there was. Hell, I’m 30, and still have those very books – waiting to break them out whenever I decide to bring a little one into the world. To be honest though, I find myself pulling them out at random, re-reading stories from my childhood in hopes to stay forever young. Father Time never stops, but no one said you have to officially grow up.

While Russ‘ latest track isn’t a tribute to one of my favorite authors, it does correlate with the idea of not letting time slip by. One day you’re going to wake up and wonder where the past dozen years of your life went. There’s no reason to feel any sense of fear though, just practice living in the moment and you’ll be alright.

You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon
You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon

(Myself)
So scared of getting older
I’m only good at being 22
Tryna find a way to slow this down
But these wheels just keep on turning

I’m playing in a game I can’t win
But I still play like I can’t lose

You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon
You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon

(Gianna)
Stop growin up so fast
I remember when I held you
You’re still a baby to me
You’ll always be that way to me

I’m playing in a game I can’t win
But I still play like I can’t lose

You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon
You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon

(Mom & Dad)
You’ve always been there for me
I’ve never lived a day without you
I still got so much to learn
You can’t leave me

I’m playing in a game I can’t win
But I still play like I can’t lose

You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon
You’re gettin too old
How’d it get so late so soon
