The Weeknd’s “I Can’t Feel My Face” leaked about two weeks ago. These were my thoughts when it came out:

Woah. This is a switch up. After dropping a video for “The Hills,” The Weeknd premieres his brand new single, “Can’t Feel My Face.”

The Weeknd is supremely talented, and his voice is one of the better voices in hip-hop and R ‘n’ B, but at times, the production behind his voice starts to bore. Songs like “Wanderlust” and “Dirty Diana” stick out in the middle of everything else, which is why I seem to gravitate more toward that sound The Weeknd comes through with than any other. His latest release, “I Can’t Feel My Face,” falls into that category.

Produced by Max Martin, The Weeknd channels his inner pop and belts over groovy production about spending time with a woman who makes him numb through the love and sensations they feel for each other. The lyrical content doesn’t waver from what he usually sings about, but this sounds so damn nice. There is no doubt you’ll hear this on the radio in about an hour.
