TOTEM first caught my ear a few months back with his appearance on Russ‘ single, “99.” After enjoying his contribution, I ventured over to his SoundCloud to give his music a listen. And lucky for me, the Atlanta-based singer/producer had recently released his debut EP, pride.

“Pride. The intersection of heart, mind, and soul. It can mask us. Expose us. Isolate us, or endear us,” says TOTEM. “To have fought with one’s pride is to have tussled in trench of humanity. And yet, we often deny it’s importance in our every day lives. We give it names: confidence, fear, lust, and more. But at our core we are pride monsters. We exude it. We feel it.”

At seven tracks, TOTEM handled vocal duty by himself and enlisted BoyGenius and Paris Schulman to assist on production. A fan of what I heard, I instantly copped on iTunes and proceeded to draft up a post for the site – that, as I just found out, never went live (SMH).

Fast forward to present day, and TOTEM is back at the DopeHouse with a remix to the standout track, “Countdown.” Now featuring a verse from ATL’s Rome Fortune, the self-produced cut can be heard below. Check it out, and since the original post never published, I’ve included the project (and accompanying short-film) below as well.
