Lil Wayne Demands His Independence On ‘Free Weezy Album’

blame it on Meka July 3, 2015

To be quite succinct, life must suck for Lil Wayne. Excluding the touring, the deal with TIDAL and the fact that he currently beds Christina Milian, the Weasel is going through a pretty tough situation with his soon-to-be-former label as well as receiving the quips and barbs from someone he has ironically inspired (with some arguing that he’s now doing better than Wayne at the moment), Young Thug. To top it all off, he’s not sure if the two artists he brought into the game – coincidentally, the two biggest rappers out right now: Drake and Nicki Minaj – will even remain by his side when his legal issues are all said and done.

Perhaps that’s why he’s sounded hungrier than ever on his recent musical outputs. Rapping like he has everything and nothing to lose, Wayne has been slowly but steadily restoring himself as one of today’s premiere rappers once again, similar to his nigh-legendary musical tear during the Aughts. Not-so-coincidentally, he’s followed up his January 2015 release, Sorry 4 The Wait 2, with his highly-anticipated new project on – spoiler alert! – Independence Day. While there will be a plethora of clickbait-driven “think pieces” on the FWA, the DopeHouse figures its just best if you, the casual music listener reading these words, formulate your own thoughts on the project instead. So without further adieu, check out the Free Weezy Album – featuring Jeezy, Wiz Khalifa, his “6 Foot 7 Foot” homie Cory Gunz, and protege Euro – on TIDAL now.
