In an interview with British outlet The Sunday Times, Miguel said he makes better music than Frank Ocean. His exact quote was:

“To be completely honest—and no disrespect to anyone—I genuinely believe that I make better music, all the way around.”

The article can be found here, but the you have to pay to see the full version.

Miguel said the two aren’t friends. SHAME ON THEM FOR NOT BEING BEST FRIENDS LIKE TAY TAY AND ED SHEERAN. Jordan and Bird weren’t best friends, right? Is he supposed to admit or think his music isn’t better? Miguel and Frank Ocean are the two biggest names in R ‘n’ B over the last three to four years. If Drake says this about Kendrick, are we up in arms? We EXPECT competition.

So anyway, before you read too much into this, Miguel thinks exactly what he should think. He’s put out two albums since Frank last put out his. To say Miguel’s comments are “pointless” or “wrong” or “unwarranted,” how about we appreciate these two different artists making some of the best R ‘n’ B since Confessions. You’d be surprised what this competitive nature could do to talented guys like this.

Cop Wildheart here. Cop Kaleidoscope Dream here. Cop Channel ORANGE here. APPRECIATE GREATNESS.

SHAKE UPDATE: Just as Patrick pointed out, the comment came from a place of competition. Taking to Twitter, Miguel clarified the quote with the following message:
