As is the norm, artists can’t complete their exhaustive promo run for the release of their new album without performing a myriad of freestyles for a plethora of radio stations. Some succeed in capturing the rap world’s attention with memorable performances (remember Childish Gambino tearing through Sway In The Morning?), while others catch all kinds of flak for their struggle bars. However, the types of rappers who usually participate in freestyles are of the more hungrier variety, spewing words out as if they have something to prove. Meanwhile, the “A-Listers” tend to shove the age-old adage aside as they feel they no longer need to “prove” anything.

Which makes Meek Mill‘s case so interesting. Already poised to nab Billboard’s top spot with his well-received second album Dreams Worth More Than Money, he’s still appearing on radio stations rapping his head off as if he’s a new jack still trying to make a name for himself and not, well, dating Nicki Minaj. After turning Sway’s set into cinder, he stopped by Tony Touch’s radio show as simply a warmup to what he’d do…

… when he got to DJ Self’s show on Power 105, where he proceeded to ether every beat – from Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm” to Drake’s “Preach” – like it was just another day at the office.

When he touched “Commas,” though…
