What initially started as a joke of sorts eventually became something real and tangible – thanks in part to some brilliant fans.
El-P & Killer Mike, collectively known as Run The Jewels, released two critically acclaimed, self-titled albums: Run the Jewels & Run the Jewels 2 (with Run the Jewels 3 due out in 2016) which have both become cult classics.
After the aforementioned Kickstarter project to create a Meow The Jewels project kicked off (and surpassed their expected pledge of $40,000 by 20 grand) and was co-signed by guys like Just Blaze – El-P and a string of your favorite producers started to work on the album, sharing a few snippets back in January.
Earlier on the WRTJ (WeRunTheJewels) show on Apple Music‘s Beats 1, the first Meow The Jewels cut was premiered: “Meowrly” – originally known as “Early” and featured frequent Beyoncé producer Boots.
