It took me a long time to appreciate the music of one Gunplay. When he was first promoted as, well, one of Rick Ross‘ goons in his Triple C’s crew, we here at the DopeHouse didn’t pay much attention to his music. However, I can pinpoint the exact moment when I began to view Don Logan in a different light: When he launched a chuckle-inducing viral series where he’d be doing the most off-the-wall actions while doing otherwise normal things, like fishing or going to Six Flags with his family. Those shenanigans were then punctuated by arguably two of his best verses: outshining Kendrick Lamar on his own song, “Cartoon & Cereal,” and outshining the entire MMG clan on their posse cut “Power Circle.”

Landing a solo deal with Def Jam, ‘Play has finally release his oft-delayed debut album Living Legend. Powered by the singles “Blood On The Dope” and the YG-guested, DJ Mustard-produced “Wuzhanindoe,” the album also features contributions from Ross, Stalley, Curren$y, and more.
