Joey Bada$$ and Statik Selektah joined Noisey’s Back & Forth series, like A$AP Rocky & Schoolboy Q have done in the past. On the Croatian coast, the two discussed lazy hip-hop critics, meeting Jay Z for the first time, meeting each other for the first time and the talent that was Capital STEEZ.
Statik said Bada$$ was about 17 years old when the two first met, and before Bada$$ left Statik’s house party, he had him listen to a couple beats. Bada$$ liked one of them, they recorded the song in 10 minutes, and it wound up being “Don’t Front” on 1999.
