“Milwaukee, man..”

That’s what Shake said to me when he sent me Renz Young’s new EP 2975. And he’s right! The city keep spitting out solid music from the underground from IshDARR to Milo to Vonny del Fresco to Pizzle and plenty more. Young, though, just dropped his new free EP, so he gets the spotlight from the DopeHouse today.

Spanning seven songs, 2975 covers topics of love, perseverance, police brutality and more while Young spits over the melodic-yet-banging production from Deonte Hayes, KRS Allen, Young himself and more. The emcee’s deep voice fits well over, at times, bright production. Young reminds me a bit of Wale in terms of flow and sound, with the aggression and passion often being paired with a female compliment.
