Sidney Max – “Here Come The Birds” f. Dres (Of Black Sheep) (prod. DJ Premier) (Video)

I can attest that children these days are completely obsessed with video games, and in particular, games that can easily be accessed on smart tablets (i.e. iPads). All three of my nephews and my niece are always pre-occupied on their smart devices – to the extent that Uncle is an invisible super hero, never seen or heard. Unless the PS3 is on.

Aside from games like Minecraft – the hit game Angry Birds seems to be the most popular. My old, dinosaur self does not understand the infatuation. But, I digress.

It seems Dres (of legendary Black Sheep fame)’s son Sidney Max is another child plagued by the game – which could be either a gift or a curse. Sidney loved the game so much, he started writing raps about it – which ultimately led to a conversation between Dres and DJ Premier about the possibility of recording Sidney Max’s song.

The result? The surprisingly rousing “Here Come The Birds.” The incredible thing about all of this is young Sidney is, I’m sure, the youngest emcee to have recorded a song with the iconic DJ Premier. And the outcome of this has led to discussions of similar projects.

“Now the video has taken place, we are talking about possibly doing a whole soundtrack with kids and I’ll produce it. That hasn’t materialized yet, but it would be dope if it does,” Premo told Billboard.

I’m with it. Because the seeds are our future. They’ll be the ones holding down the culture long after we’re gone – and we need that lineage and DNA to continue over into the next generations. Watch the Father/Son collaborative video/single up top.
