After spending pretty much his entire summer working every Friday with his weekly freestyle drops, Chris Rivers is ready to unveil his new project Medicated Consumption. But instead of hijacking a random vintage instrumental for the project’s first single, he links up with frequent co-conspirator Whispers and New York bombshell Nitty Scott, MC over this soulful track produced by Data.
A quick rundown of the song: Chris wants to pursue his rap dreams, while Nitty suggests to him that he doesn’t have to as she’s a proverbial trap queen. I wish I had a woman who pretty much told me “you could chase your goals, meanwhile I’ll use my gains – legal or otherwise – to make sure the rent is paid and your belly full.” Anyways, listen to the track below.
As a bonus, check out his profile on XXL’s new viral series “Family Ties,” where – for the first time to my ears – he sounds exactly like his father.
