The Rosenthal Brothers continue to waste rapper’s time with the latest episode of their ongoing podcast. The next victim? Mac Miller – who will be releasing GO:OD AM on September 18th.

For Episode 16 of “A Waste of Time with ItsTheReal,” we hit the road and headed on down to Brooklyn to visit our good friend Mac Miller at his new apartment. This episode is both hilarious and candid: we talked in great detail about his time detoxing at Rick Rubin’s house, why he called Rick from Europe in the first place, and the new path he’s taken in his life. Mac shared never-before-heard stories about his unreleased projects with Pharrell, Nas and Cam’ron. We discussed meeting Eminem in Japan, taking the subway around New York City, how Ab-Soul used to stay at Mac’s LA house for weeks at a time, how he courted each record label when he was a free agent, that his song ended up on Travis Scott’s new album, and so much more!

A Pink Slime record ended up on Travi$ Scott’s RODEO.

“One of the tracks we did, actually, ended up on Travi$ Scott’s album. I’m not gonna say which one. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say that. It was dope!… I think, at that point, I had to make this decision—which I was proud of myself for making, that Pharrell is this artist, years in the game who’s up here. And I needed to cement my own identity and what I did first. I wanted to put out Watching Movies.”

On working with Nas:

“I had to do the beat in front of him – like it was fucking terrifying… I think it’s coming out on the Mass Appeal album, whenever that comes out. And his verse is crazy! I think when I get on songs with people, they rap really well because I don’t think they want any chance that I have a better verse. It’s tight. It’s flattering.”

A Mac Miller x Cam’ron Christmas album?!

“It was like around the same time I was gonna do the Pharrell EP… [Cam’ron] wanted to do it like Step Brothers-themed. Looking back, I wish I [put it out]. But I’ve made, like, nine albums before putting this one [GO:OD AM] out.”
