I assumed that we’d hear pretty much all of Disclosure‘s Caracal LP before it’s release in nine days after the duo dropped yet another single, “Jaded,” yesterday. I did not expect them to completely own Drake’s “Hotline Bling.”
The duo brought on Sam Smith, who they’ve collaborated with on smash hits “Latch” and “Omen” thus far, for the cover. They performed the cover live on BBC Radio earlier today in the United Kingdom. The performance started off with “Omen,” then after a short interview, the artists put their small twist on Drake’s hit. Artists like Alessia Cara, Jordan Bratton and Kelena have given “Hotline Bling” a shot, but these artists are the biggest to take the song on. There’s a little bit of a ’90s dance groove to the cover, and damnit, I can’t wait until these dudes drop the CDQ of this. It’s gotta be coming.
