Closed Sessions artists Kweku Collins, Odd Couple and Boathouse are bubbling in the Chicago area right now, slowly making their way to ears around the country. Collins and Odd Couple both have released projects (here and here, respectively) in the last three months, and Boathouse is on his way up working with both artists learning the ropes of the game.

Together, they land on the Closed Sessions label, and today, they drop a small EP, Spicy Caliente, to showcase the talents of the label. The EP spans five songs, with Kweku appearing on three of them (one each produced by himself, Boathouse and Odd Couple). This is a nice display of the talent, especially with Kweku crooning over different sounds in the middle parts of the EP. His joint with Odd Couple, “Let Me Go,” is incredible.

Odd Couple had something to say about the EP:

“Spicy Caliente is us being us. Just expressing the vibe we all share, but mixed with a sound we all love. From Kweku’s cadence to Boathouse’s bouncy backdrops, Spicy Caliente is the hot shit that needs no explanation. It’s like Siracha, sweat with a smile.”

Closed Session will be in New York October 17 displaying their talents at the CMJ Music Marathon, so make sure to check them out there, and listen to their new EP below.
