Tinashe – “Player” f. Chris Brown

blame it on Patrick Glynn October 1, 2015

We’re warming up for Tinashe season, as we hope her next LP, Joyride, will drop by the end of the year. Toward the beginning of September, we got the album’s first single with the Young Thug-assisted “Party Favors,” and as October rolls in, the Kentucky-born singer unveils “Player” with Chris Brown.

The song eventually catches a nice groove as she warns, “You better stay up, player. You better keep up, player,” before Chris Brown arrives as her counterpart — no matter how good or bad a decision that may be. Everything between the choruses seem a little off beat, which is unfortunate, because once it explodes, “Player” has potential to be a massive Top 40 pop hit. I’ve got a feeling this will grow on me.

Listen above.
