You know, for almost two decades now, my search for the original vocal sample that sets off Smif-N-Wessun’s sound clash ready monster “Sound Bwoy Bureill” has eluded me. I’ve gotten into many debates about its origin. Was it Fuzzy Jones (who was sampled in Kanye’s “Mercy”)? Joe Lickshot? Well, it turns out it’s actually lifted from an obscure record by Clement Irie (aka Clement Barnes) called “Ku Yu Soundboy.” Mystery solved; this digger is now satisfied.

Moving right along, Brownsvillain winner Marvelous Mag makes use of the call-to-arms, emcee-burying instrumental as he enlists the help of soldiers Shabaam Sahdeeq and SmooVth for “3 Man Weave.”
