While most of the (rap) world’s attention focused on the grandiose affair that was TIDAL X: 10/20, down the street – in the nation’s capital – Kendrick Lamar threw a precursor concert for his upcoming Kunta’s Groove Sessions tour. Performing with the National Symphony Orchestra K. Dot – alongside The Wesley Theory and roughly 100 hyper-talented musicians – turned songs from his catalog into intricately arranged compositions from his sophomore album To Pimp A Butterfly.

After telling brief stories about each song, Kendrick performed songs such as “Alright,” “These Walls,” “King Kunta,” “i,” and many more.

“These Walls”

“i”

“Alright”

“King Kunta”

Those who will be attending Kunta’s Groove Sessions (Atlanta is up first) should be excited for when the tour officially stops in their respective city… unless you live in Las Vegas (sorry Shake).
