Clarksville, Tennessee rests on the state’s border with Kentucky, just northwest of Nashville. From the city rose a young man named Tim Gent, who is starting to bubble in the hip-hop world. Following his Clarksville Nights LP, Gent has announced his For the Love EP, which doesn’t have a release date just yet.

Today, we get the first sound from the project, though, with “Rising Son,” a smooth, confident single where Gent states his ranking above the phonies in the rap game. “These n*ggas fall off before they get on,” Gent spits with an anger that seamlessly translates to an observations that he’s far above the mediocre people that try and associate with him. Once he starts, Gent barely takes a breath over Free P production with a flow and sound reminiscent to Vince Staples.
