If you haven’t been exposed to DaM-FunK and his Invite the Light LP thus far, it’s one the year’s must-listens at an hour-and-a-half of pure educated funk. As the Cali singer/producer continues his quest in spreading the funk sound, he releases “Compos Mentis,” a previously unreleased cut full of airy synthesizers, a slow, hard-hitting bass line and clean, freestyled piano keys.
“Compos Mentis” is sans-lyrics, which makes the easy-going song that much easier to enjoy. If you’re having any trouble enjoying the song, stare into the picture above that was released along with the song, and all the qualms in your world will calm. It’ll all make sense. Just enjoy the funk.
