The original Da Roconha dropped in 2012, and Seattle beatmaker Sango followed it up with a sequel in January 2014. Now, as the three-part series comes to a close, we get Da Rocinha 3, which the Soulection member describes as “keeping the funk roots true and paying homage to the ones that helped start it. I want to respect and show Rocinha in a positive light with this record while staying true to my sound.”
The album has a range of features over the 19 songs including ESTA, Marvel Alexander and more. I have a friend who loves Sango’s experimentation in Brazilian baile, and always make sure to slide some into a radio show we host together. Now he has plenty more to add to rotation.
